| | Physical abilities < on 7/8/2009 12:19 PM >
| | | I know that to many their UE experience involves nothing more than hoping the occasional fence or crawling through a 1st story window, but to those that take it that one step further do you do any physical training to enhance your experience? My training regime, although not specificly done for UEing, consist of x-country running, weight training, and climbing. I have found that my fitness levels and skill development has enhanced my experiences. I find that have more time to explore and need no time for recovery after making an intense entry. I have also found that upon exiting a site, if a high speed get away is necessary, I have the reserves for it.

| | | I practice reading internet forums. After 3 years of sarcastic comments and poorly informed opinions, I am now more of a self righteous keyboard warrior than I ever was before. I have found that my Urbex experience has been significantly enhanced as a result. Thank you Mr. Internet. [last edit 7/8/2009 2:38 PM by Sgt Marshall - edited 1 times]

| | | I spend a lot of time auto-felating, then rubbing myself with babyoil and flexing in front of the mirror. I've found this is adequate training to develop a peak UE physique, enabling me to carry 750lbs of camera gear (4 bodies, 3 battery grips and 439.7 lenses) to best capture the decay aesthetic.

Take every word Marshall has graced us with here in absolute seriousness. I've explored the UEDB with him on numerous occasions and found his level of athleticism and skill far above most on this forum. Plus he's australian, so his natural abilities are a given you burgereaters. [last edit 7/8/2009 1:49 PM by dsankt - edited 1 times]

| | | On a much more serious note......upper body strength is a must if your gonna be doing any sort of climbing.....something I need to work.

| | | I was competitive in swimming and cross-country back in high school (3 years ago now), so I usually manage to have enough endurance for whatever I'm doing - assuming my puny upper-body strength is enough to get me through. Even backbreaker drains tend to fall before enough persistence, although that exercise is making my legs even more stronger than my arms.

| | | I'll admit I have no upper body strength. I played soccer my whole life, so all I have are legs muscles, and apparently a surprisingly mean right hook. So, whenever I need to get somewhere higher, I have my buddies there to give me a boost. It hasn't been a problem yet, but I probably should work on my upper body.

| | | I'm kinda fat and don't have insane amounts of upper body strength, but I'm decently flexible and have pretty good lower body strength. Being flexible's pretty good for some really interesting entrances [last edit 7/8/2009 8:13 PM by budda - edited 1 times]

| | | this topic HAS been covered but.. at one point I was going to the Gym doing climbing specific exercises such as using a pull-down weight but simulating pulling myself up a ledge. It worked really well and I could hop tall fences in seconds. It was great for ninja stuff.. 5 months of no Gym, Even tho I am still super active, has still taken its toll and I take an extra second now to pull myself up stuff.
I will defeat that which was once untouchable only so that I may now move on |

| | | I find agility to be much more necessary than strength. But I'm a skinny guy, despite the fact that I have an intensive beer regimin of at least a 6 pack per day, so it's pretty easy to climb or pull myself up to places.

| | | It helps to UE with people who are fatter and have lesser abilities. It makes you look skinnier AND you only have to be faster than the slowest guy to not get caught.

| | | Rock climbing!!! The skills you get from rock climbing are extremely useful for UE. I climb at a gym almost every day, and outdoors when I get the chance. Hiking is good too. I do a little weight lifting, and occasionally get out my dusty old inline speed skates for some cardio.
