| | | Posted by trent Running from the cops for about 1/4 mile in a brush-filled field covered by 2 feet of snow while carrying all my gear. I made it. And then I pretty much instantly became sick for about a week after that. My lungs were a mess after that.

In what way is that a mistake? It sounds like you did what you needed to to get away. You had a shitty experience but you definitely didnt make a mistake. Giving in, that would have been a mistake.
A friendly cop told me that I am possibly under investigation by the FBI and by the state for two separate instances where it was supposedly me seen in security footage; one on the roof of a federal trust and the other in the pharmacy and records building of an active state hospital. If it was really me and I didn't cover my face near security cameras, that would be my biggest mistake. But it definitely wasn't me and its simply silly to think that I would ever do such things. So my biggest mistake has to be eating one of Miker's cheesesteak subs before exploring. Stupid!

Due to a communication breakdown not everyone ran. The non-runners were still able to talk their way out of the situation. My run was all in vain. But still when I see the cops rolling up, they don't yet see me, and I'm 15 feet from a deep treeline...I'm gonna make a break for it. Even if easier to talk my way out. I guess they went searching for me in the woods too. Suckers!

| | | I don't have a lot of upper-body strength and one day I decided I could make my way down this one railroad bridge by trying to climb down the cement wall. Needless to say I couldn't do it and I fell about ten feet onto a fallen tree. I suffered cement burn from the wall of the bridge and a nasty bruise on my left leg. Three weeks later my leg is still rather tender. Lesson: build upper-body strength.

| | | The dozens of times I carry my camera but forget the batteries or the memory card. Or the great times I forget the quick release plate for the tripod but go through the hassle of bringing both the tripod and my camera along. Stopping at that Burger King near Perrysburg. Shoulda just kept driving. Almost walking to my death off a catwalk. I'm so glad my buddy Johnny was on the same walkway, evening out the weight on that thing or I wouldn't be here now. Should have been watching where I was going better. Not leaving immediately when the guy asked us if we had spoken to Jim. I don't know what we were thinking but apparently it wasn't that we should vacate the premises immediately, on the other hand we may have just forgot the exact route we entered from. Man was Jim ever pissed. Thinking the cops would go easy on us for giving our selves up, shoulda stayed in the tall grass and waited it out. At least I remembered to make another explorer dump their drugs before we got caught. Eating way too much food before exploring. Dunno what it is about hospitals and other institutional buildings but they make me wanna take the worst shits of my life. Nothing like exploring with severe intestinal cramps cause you have to diarrhoea some where. Not exploring something because I'm too afraid or it's too risky at the moment. So many missed opportunities.
Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you. |

| | | Going down Melbourne's ANZAC drain with the missus to do some "light painting" had some sparklers, SLR camera, tripod and some torches. Set up the tripod with camera on it in a really cool section of curved red brick tunnel. The proceeded to grab pack of sparklers and managed to spill 99% of them in water rendering them useless. This left me with one crappy sparkler. I then set up the self timer and put the camera into "B" mode, proceeded to run around like an idiot with my precious single sparkler until it went out. Yelled out to the missus to depress the shutter, then to my horror she said "you idiot you left the lens cap on!" I was very pissed off and decided to call it a night.

That's so stupid. My code: I get caught, others don't exist. *shakes head* My biggest mistake so far...not putting on my mask soon enough. I walked through the basement of a hospital that was flooded, should have put on my mask as I'd never been there before, before entering. Asbestos everywhere.

Haha nice try, sis! It wasn't the actual running that did me in...I can run. It was sucking in sub-freezing air while my body was sweating from sprinting in about 3 layers of winter clothes. I ended up with a lot of fluid in my lungs and them being really sore for days.
|
And well, going to the gym wont help dealing with running in snow. Running in snow bakes it seems like your running on a treadmill only its way tougher on the legs (and frustrating too) anyways, got to get to sleep lol just finished my prom and im working at noon...

| | | Okay so me and my mom went urban exploring the other day around the same area we had been before, but for some reason we couldn't find any new houses, so we decided to go down some really deserted side streets. Finally we found a house we thought may have been abandoned, so we got out of the car, and as I shut the door I realized I left my keys in the (now locked) car. Lovely! I mean, we were also about two and a half hours away from home at this point, so, we had to try and flag down some of the cars that came by, which weren't many, but finally a guy stopped and called a towing company for us. $70 and an hour and a half later in the sweltering heat, we were finally on our way home. There were other unfortunate events on the way home though.. Like hitting a bird and getting a speeding ticket. Needless to say, all of this and we didn`t even find anything to urban explore.

| | | Last week I got into an abandoned hospital for the first time, and visited the morgue, where we lied on the metal trays, played with the equipment, tried on the apron. Half an hour after I was eating a bacon double cheeseburger at Burger King, and suddenly remembered I hadn't washed my hands. So far nothing bad has happened, but I suspect one day I will find myself in one of these morgues against my will.

Haha, the funny thing about that is, before we were getting out of the car, my mom was like "no, leave your cellphone inside", because we weren't sure if the house was empty or not, and if it wasn't, we were going to say we needed help finding directions to a certain location (which would look silly if I had a phone in my hand because I could have just called somebody).

| | | After all the hobo's I've murdered in locations in the LDB, the authorities have finally tracked me down. They were able to link me to the murders by footprints of mine left at the scenes. "Leave only footprints, take only photographs' really screwed me over. I should have left the photographs and taken my footprints. Posting from the federal pen on this crappy 56K dialup blows.

| | | My biggest mistake is also procrastination. It's especially pitiful if the sites are on the way to and from work. Sometimes I say to myself "Ah, I'll stop there tomorrow or next week". Some sites were dozed under or sealed off by then.
