| | | I'm wondering if anyone has bought a GPS unit for their pocket PC / Palm Pilot? I know there are a few with integrated GPS, but they lack some other features that I like. I already have a Dell Axim X5 with a compact flash slot, for which there are some GPS cards available. I figure it would be cheaper to use this and a good mapping program (or just downloaded topo maps) than to buy an expensive GPS with topo maps built in. I'd be using this mostly to scout locations in the woods, and to find missile bases and remote mines from coordinates, so I want pretty accurate topographic data.

| | | I have the Sony Clie with Rand McNally Street Finder. I bought the GPS add-on from Sony and it works great. A little cumbersome because you have to have a battery pack for the GPS antenna and it is big itself. Street Finder is a wonderful program that you can use to load specific areas onto your PDA and while you are out there it is great for tracking.
Wishing I was Jack Dalton just to have all the cool leftovers... |
