Oh nearly missed this... but the week after, as in the weekend? Is gonna be difficult. Maybe via PM?

You could always read these and learn a little about structures. It's only about 4500 pages. I even threw in a municipal book for those interested in pipes and drains and that sort of thing.

Into the Twin Cities underworld of muck, yuck, rats and wonder

http://www.twincities.com/ci_12159750

Urban underground explorer Greg Brick says his new book, "Subterranean Twin Cities," is an armchair tour of the tunnels, caves, sewers and underground waterways of St. Paul and Minneapolis, not a guidebook for anyone who would try to follow in his sludgy footsteps.

Thought I'd mention this book before anyone went and wasted their money.

http://www.beneath...eath_the_neon.html

"Beneath the Neon" is a book chronicling the lives of people living in the storm sewers of Las Vegas, a la "Mole People." Except it sucks. My problem with it was that the author managed to bitch and whine the entire time about how the drains are dark, cockroachy, wet, dark, backbreaking, etc etc, mentioning every damn reason why draining sucks and spending almost absolutely no time explaining the wonders of draining. Plus, it focuses too much on the people and how they got there, which if you've ever spent any amount of time talking with the homeless, you know already.

And "Collapse" is completely awesome. Anything by Diamond is good. I've said for years now that if "Guns, Germs and Steel" were required reading in every high school history class the world would be well on it's way to being a better place.

Art of Deception, heard it was a good read, haven't had time to check though.

Master Mitnick really couldn't say much about exactly how he'd socially engineered people in that book, which is depressing since I shelled money out for it a few years back. It's still a very good read, and worth picking up at the library. I've never bothered much with social engineering, but come to think of it, it'd be a good skill to acquire. Check out collections of text files from back in the BBS days. You could find some valuable stuff there.

All the books I would recommend have already been mentioned, but I should throw this in here - if anyone's going to read Toth's Mole People book, read this too for a second opinion.

yep.

I really like this book as well, if I didn't mention it already.

Yes! I buy way more than I can ever read, I consider this my retirement fund - I may be broke in old age but I will have an endless supply of reading to catch up on. Now if only my eyesight holds out.......

Why are you laughing? Mike Dijital is a serious noted photographer and a household name. He has a vast following of very reputable people.

His friend also has some great "UE"-relevant books:

I know nothing about either of them except for the fact that they both are to be respected as our superiors and taken very seriously. Last I heard Lord Richard was campaigning to run for president 2012 and Mike Dijital was going to be his VP.
