My Sh*tty camera and me.

These are just a few pics from 2 places I've been recently. They are all untouched images. I am in serious need of an equipment upgrade, but until then, I'll make do with I've got. Still, I'm looking forward to hearing some honest critiques. I've seen the quality work that some of you do.

What kind of camera are you using? I like the 2nd picture. Could use the help of a tripod though to keep the camera still while taking the picture.

It's a Kodak Z740, all AF. (I hate to admit it) I definately need a tripod. (it was super cold that day!) I have a little portable one (but it's short) and no remote for the cam. ~ Thanks for the input!

Thats not too shitty. I've got a Z8128is... It really helps to use the timer too if there is no remote.

Thanks for the props! I appreciate it! ~ Good point about the timer. I should make a point of using it more. True my camera's not that bad, but I feel a little limited with the auto focus. Have you had your Z812 long? I've had mine for several years now, and I've never had any problems with it. I find it to be very, very durable and reliable!

From what I see, I'm not sure the problem is with the camera generally. Read up on photographic composition and I think it will do wonders. You don't need a great camera to take great photos.

I've had it for about a year and a half now. The only real problem I have with it is the OK button doesn't work anymore... It also has a horrible lag problem from when I push the shutter button and when it actually takes the picture, but thats never a problem for my photos of abandoned buildings since nothing is ever moving really.

Light balance is kinda off in the 3rd and 5th. I really like the last one. Pretty nice for an auto focus on a cold day without a tripod. Remember, it's not necessarily the camera that makes a picture, but the photographer

no problem...oh and on the 5th one maybe one step to the right would help to get that out of focus bar out of the left in the frame =]

LOL I am trying to grow as a photographer, so I appreciate all the input. I know I definately need to work on my light balance, so thank you for pointing it out!
Slink - I have the same lag with mine. Sorry to hear about your OK button. That's gotta be a pain!
Yota - I know what you mean. I plan on going back again so hopefully next time I'll be able to take some improved versions. ;)

Very cool that you recognized Kodak n Concordia! I had a serious time crunch, so I didn't get to see all of Kodak. But from a glance, it looked like there was a foot of ice or so down there. You got any pics from either that you can throw up here or that you have posted somewhere?

Thanks again! ;) I know I have a lot to learn about photography, that's why I'm here. But I do feel frustrated with the AF. Anyways, I was hoping I could get some more input on some other pics. I am still trying to find my own style and I can't decide whether I'm going to go with pure photography or PS. I do have a lot of appreciation for virgin photos, but I've had to edit a few of these with PS because they were too dark.

lookss great! i like them and i know what you mean about the auto focus...personally i think some of the best photographs iv seen on here have at least a little ps...i like your angles...1 looks good to me, imo 2 could use two steps back so the vertical bars dont get cut off...other then that i LOVE it and #3 is a great subject and angle...but maybe darken it just a tad so the windows arent so burnt in...all meant to be helpful not mean...keep it up! =]

I Totally love the first 3 and number 6... I've definitely had that problem with the auto focus too before... apparently there is a way to manually focus my camera, but I haven't figured that out yet.

Thanks guys! I appreciate your constructive criticism. When you guys say something, it clicks over here, and I go...Ahhhhhh! Yes! That would be better! So thank you for taking the time to help me improve! ;) I'm sure if I was more pro, I'd know how to manipulate my camera so that the focus was better.

(Lots of people think that I should be able to switch my cam to MF too, but it's just not possible. It would be cool if you could do it with yours.)

Damn! Is #5 too dark for you guys? I usually use an LCD screen when I'm on UER but I'm using a CRT now and it's way too friggin dark on it. I guess that means that the pic is just too dark?!
