Just wondering if I will have to re post my pics in the DB or do those get transferred over automatically ? You have such a cool site but i really enjoy looking at locations on the UE DB rather than the forum, but i have no permissions except for forum so
If i put all this time into posting in forum am I going to have to duplicate it when my permissions change.

What happens is you create either your own location or a gallery within that location and upload your pictures from your computer. 10 at a time, 25 max

you CAN ask, but your best bet is to keep posting, and read all the time, go explore and take pictures, make meaningful posts and meet people on the forums who can vouch for you. Then you will be recommended for full membership and most likely get it if you've made enough impact to get recommended and haven't pissed too many people off. This could take more time, but I think you'll be more respected in community if you do it this way. That's the way I got full membered and it only took me ~3 months.

yeah i was bummed cause i had been here for a year but not in the forum only in the DB viewing and commenting.
and I finally get the camera so i can post and i have to wait more (grumble grumble grumble)

oh well. What's 3 months

another question then.... How many people actually meet online first then meet in person? Does that scare the crap out of anyone else but me?

Depends on if you're a male or female.

I have no issues meeting someone who is a male or female for the first time in person - if the idea is to go exploring. On one occasion I took off into the bushes with a lone female who I'd never met before, and we explored an old mine.

I've met males (eg. Trains, PhilG, Greydeath) for the first time without any concerns.

If you're a female however, then that all changes. For example there is a female that we would like to bring exploring with us (she's on UER) but she wants to bring her sister or father with her. This is perfectly natural, because you have to play it safe online.

I think if this were a dating site, the concerns would be much greater. Since we all have the same interests on here, there's still a sense of danger, but generally you can ascertain that a person's interests are more likely in EXPLORING PLACES than with exploring YOU.

To answer your question about meeting online, this is what we do everyday here on the forums anyways. I would suggest that you bring a friend with you or meet up with other female explorers until you feel comfortable.

Only you know your own limitations and comfort zones. Speaking only for myself, I have no worries meeting either sex. Well, except for Copysix because he kind of intimidates me haha

(The female whom I explored the mine with, she returned home alive and well I might add.)

I bet most of us meet online first and then in person. Of course, there are times where the opposite happens, but in my own experience I've met everyone except 2 people online before I met them in person.

As for it being scary, you really shouldn't have anything to be afraid of, unless you're meeting anybody from F/RoX. Word on the street is that some of them drug you with special SoCo and you'll wake up in an abandoned building with an F/RoX sticker over your asshole.

Oh God, I can't wait to meet Don_Corleyone. You'd better bring extra SoCo, Corley... I'm a big guy and it might take more than usual.

Me goin' legit would be like JarJar on speech therapy.

LOL well I have only met one dude online in person and have plans to meet at least one more, but what I was saying was meet people who have FM status online. You dont HAVE to meet in person. As a matter of fact the person who recommended me and the one who vouched for me I've never actually met, nor did I talk to them online, but I know lots of people on here who would have and may have vouched for me when I was under review. None of these people were the person I met IRL

While I would love to be a full member, I'm not pressing the issue. It will happen someday. You don't need FM status to go out and explore.

Just be patient and continue posting, giving advice, taking pictures, and most importantly, getting out there and getting your feet wet.

Yes, post allot, become an active member of the site. Get yourself known as someone that gives good sane advice if people are requesting it. Have a good sense of humor, but watch out with sarcasm, it can backfire and make you look like an asshole. There a few people on this site that are masterful at sarcasm, and there are some who do not attain that level.

I'm sure you can post sites without being a full member, go to the main, at the top hit post new thread, have fantastic photos and an even better story. With each new posting you will generate more folks that can vouch for you.

The story is very important, otherwise it's just photos of a crappy old building.

Best of luck to all of you.

When I became a full member, none of the places I'd been were in the DB except for some utility tunnels shown to me by a local UER member I met online. So I didn't have to repost at all ;)

Look at Bourbonbaby. If he's not included, I don't know what you have to do. I suspect you could try to donate your way in; more likely, you have to drink the Warlock's blood of a dog, on a softball diamond under, a full-moon.

I don't mean to contradict or offend you here, but UER main board says to post location specific threads elsewhere, like in its respective regional board. I know I've been guilty of making this typical noob mistake before, but i hope this will keep other rookies from making the same mistake I did.

The blood drinking on the softball diamond was my path to success.

Sadly, the moderators can't see whether you've ever donated, let alone how much. So, you could still try to donate your way in, but it would be a tad futile. You could also try urbex-related nudes. I don't know that it would help the FM cause, but everyone likes urbex-related nudes, right?
