Yeah the biggest thing is, the best shoes are the ones you're wearing. Unless you can absolutely identify a specific area where your shoes are failing you, just wear the ones you've got.

| | | Posted by trent http://www.kickson...idas-superstar.jpg My general exploration shoes of choice as long as it's not snowy out. -Lightweight compared to boots -Pretty much all I wear, so they're as good as me being barefoot in terms of agility. -Pretty sturdy & safe against general debris. (just keep your eye's open for nails) -Not to bad for climbing and getting grip on small 1/4" ledges.
Though if climbing is the primary purpose, you'd probably be better suited with real climbing shoes.

I found a pair of these at the goodwill a while ago and bought em just because they were cheap and I needed some shoes. Then I figured out they're great for exploring but I thought I was the only one that thought this. I highly suggest anyone who doesn't like wearing boots try these.

| | | i found that i just take a pair of old running shoes or tennis shoes and resole them. since im around Portland ill go to Oregon leather and buy a sheet of rubber for soles and trace out a pattern on them cut out the soles then attach them with shoe goo. I do this because i wear through soles longboarding alot, but i find they are also crazy grippy on everything and a nail gone through them yet.

I just got a pair of the KSO's and I love them so far. They're something different, ugly as sin, but comfy for walking or whatever. I like them better than my sneakers. Shael

Just saw these at a local EasternMountainSports... they are very cool... nothing I would ever buy or wear. But cool.

| | | I havent used my KSO's for exploring yet but for fences and general infiltrating/climbing they are great. one thing I have noticed too, in dry sand or packed dirt they really don't leave a discernible foot print, though I bet in mud or muck of any other kind another story is told. I have to get another pair of big rubbah boots. I lost mine to a barbed wire fence. [last edit 9/17/2010 2:54 PM by ChefMunki - edited 1 times]

| | | I've had my KSO's for a couple weeks now and I love them. After the first two weeks of wearing nothing else I could feel that my calves, ankles and feet were stronger. They changed my stride (for the better) and now just walking in my Teva Mush flip flops feels weird. I've worn them exploring twice so far and the only problem I've had with them is little burs getting stuck in between the toes. They're easy to pull off but you definitely notice them when they attach. An added advantage that I didn't expect is that walking is much quieter than with boots or running shoes. Even walking through the woods I can make very little noise with them on.

| | | Lightweight, rubber over toe for climbing, padded enough heel to take a landing, epic grip on dry surfaces. No really, the grip is godly... the way a new pair sticks on concrete feels almost unnatural. [last edit 9/20/2010 11:59 PM by vov35 - edited 1 times]

| | | Hey, those look kind of like my Free Willies, only the И is backwards.
Can't recommend these shoes though, as the left sole disintegrated when I was in Pyongyang. There I was flopping around in these cheap South Korean shoes when everyone else's North Korean Van's ripoffs were holding together just fine.

So I hear Korea is godly for urbex (or so cumdumpster tells me) .... how are the police there? Back on topic: I choose my shoes primarily for parkour, so if I need to move, I can...

The cops here are hilariously ineffective. Who's cumdumpster? Please don't tell me that's someone's username.
