As far as grounding at 18 well maybe a bit over the top. Respectful of his father is not a bad thing and it seems go away at a young age anymore.

It sound's like you need to get your ass to college and live on campus. My parents are cool only because they know they can't stop me. If they kick me out; I'm more than resourceful enough to survive on my own. I gave them the option of either lying to them, not telling them, or being upfront. They'd rather have me be up front about what I'm doing, then lie to them.
