I have noticed that alot of abandoned and in construction places have nails all over. alot of the time the nails stick out of the drywall or just odd spots. i was wondering what you do when you run into the problem of nails? do you just go around it or do you have some sort of technique? nails are terrible especially if the place is a really tight place. comments?

If they are real bad, and I or somebody else will get cut or hurt, I'll try to bend them down at least.

get some tetanus shots and such so to at least remove that from the equation, if your exploring a lot these simple things can put your mind at ease somewhat

All in all you're just another nail in the wall...

Now that that's out of the way... I second the tetanus shot idea. Also, wear work gloves and try to be careful I guess, just watch your step and pay attention to where you're going.

Tetanus shots, sheet shank and toe boots, and some glasses, eyeglasses are fine and better than nothing.

I don't waste time bending or removing nails unless they are in my way. If I see a board on the ground with a nail in it, I'll bend it down with my boot or flip it over, otherwise with my luck, I'll step on it on my way out or on another trip.

Some barns, basements, and machinery sheds I've explored are notorious for having nails everywhere for hanging junk on.

I tend to worry less about feet and more about hands.

Climbing the side of a building. Just regular metal, but I lost my grip and tore my hand open.

I just go slow, and always make sure that if you feel something catch, you DON'T panic. Stop moving immediately and figure out what's where before you rush to back track or anything. I have a lot of trouble attempting to brute-force my way through thorn bushes, myself.

Your location says MA, get a frickin Carhartt jacket and Carhartt pants. All the rednecks around here wear them. (I are an redneck...) Even Nettles can't get through them. Just a bit of personal advice but army BDU's suck. They may be ripstop but they won't stop the thorns from sticking into you.

/sarcasm

I was referring to these:

There's nothing wrong or suspicious with wearing BDU pants. Full uniform, yes. But they are just cargo pants with tie leggings (good for keeping out ticks/other nasties) and if you fall or go over barbwire, they won't tear easily. (hence the "ripstop")

However on another note:
Ripstop Pants, that don't have ripstop pockets; great idea!
Seriously I have had to resew my pants pockets three time now.

Calvin Klein is working with ripstop now.

You can get pants and a jacket with no issues that will look totally like normal clothes now.

My kids have full ripstop raingear from finkid
