dogs are the one thing that would get me the fuck out of there. I was attacked when I was five and I still fear dogs and am uncomfortable around them to this day.

Can I say this again:

Posted by DJ Craig

We aren't going to feed them tranquilizers or spray them with mace! What we're saying is that it really doesn't seem as though the dogs are aggressive at all, and maybe they aren't even guard dogs. If they are, they're definitely very poorly trained dogs.

Ole actually came partially inside and tried to (safely) provoke the dogs, and they just looked at her like she was silly.

We still haven't done it yet but it really seems that those dogs are just strays or pets, not guard dogs. We're planning to go in sometime soon. We might bring a burger, but no mace or sedatives. So stop freaking out about Ole and I.

Although, Sandaili, I really do appreciate your very informative post. It's amazing and wonderful how UER always seems to have someone in almost every profession.

Thanks, I am glad someone likes me

Honestly I was just kind of afraid because as a vet tech I saw everything humanly possible happen to dogs. I've also been attacked by many breeds, but never a pit bull or dobie!

Good luck in your explores. Remember the steaks! ;)

Thank's guys for the responses and useful information. I would be more convinced that they are strays if I hadn't come across someone at school who had said their dad was the caretaker of the dogs. The guy was more unfriendly than the dogs

Last night was so much of an epic fail that I had to post the story here:

Needless to say, I probably won't bother with this place again.

Actually...Ole is a ninja.

lol I've been in quite a few terrifying situations with Ole and I've never seen her as scared as she was that night. That whole night was terrifying for both of us! Great fun though. I think we both had way more terrifying fun than we would have if we had just gotten in there!

My run away from that place was quite scary and amusing, as well. Nothing like hearing a barking dog just as you get half your body under a fence.

Well, if you knew there was a dog there, you could bring one! I would choose that over engaging in hand to hand combat with a guard dog.

Wouldn't that be hand-to-paw combat?

Nope. Usually hand-to-pretty.friggin'.sharp.teeth combat.

If there's a guard dog, chances are there's something people don't want you to see. It's probably best for your own safety.

You don't want to wander into someones Grow-Op or anything like that.

If they are guard dogs or live there then I would just leave the place alone. If they are strays and come after you then take em out. I was tracked by wild dogs when I was hunting (I was around 13). I got up into a tree and took them out when they came for my tree. I also was exploring a old warehouse and there were some strays (people dumped food on the driveway). They ran from me and just made sure to make noise and let them clear out. Make sure you do not corner a dog or run!

The dogs were two large black labs. One was very submissive and the other was territorial but not aggressive - he even wagged his tail as he was barking at one point. If a dog is wagging its tale while barking, it's not likely to attack at all - just make a lot of noise. He might've given chase if we'd ran from him, but he didn't come anywhere near us. After a while they just didn't even care that we were there. We were free to do as we pleased. =)

The location was *totally* worth it, too. Pretty neat, and we got on the roof (with some ninja skillz and I proved that wiggling was useful for getting through windows).

Add me to the list of people who have run from those dogs. I think I was trying to hold a cup of hot coffee at the time. Fail.

Black labs? A-w-w-w. They're usually sweet pooches. Lotsa barking but that's pretty much it. Glad no one got hurt and that you enjoyed the location.
