| | | I added some more UE drawings to my photobucket. http://s614.photob...ms/tt222/tophat72/ The images are larger on photobucket These are inspired by both places I've been and pictures posted here. Some creative licence has been taken.

| | | i think these are very cool, and it's awesome to see something different on this site. that said, there are too many to critique (and i'm in no position to anyway), and i HATE it when people upload directly to UER cuz i can't stand mousing over every single thumb. honestly, 99% of the time, if i see thumbs i hit 'back'. i stayed cuz these are so unique. next time, host them elsewhere and use the img tags so we can just scroll down and see each one at 600x800 or so.
how do you do your drawings? from memory? do you use a camera when you're out then do your drawings later? or do you even do some on-site?

I did one gallery and they obviously looked like shit when dumbed down to 100k. I was going to ask what people did to get high quality photos here. I thought the sketches were well done. Some did not look architecturally realistic but more futuristic. Shading and perspective were nice. Now, where was the inspiration?

| | | very interesting work...i'm not really getting a sense of realism from your drawings, they seem almost labyrinthian and otherworldly in appearance, which isn't a bad thing at all. very much reminds me of M.C. Escher's work. i'm a fan of pen and inks, have done many myself, and i appreciate the line work that you've done.

| | | Bahhh I typed up a response last night but I guess I failed to post it... But anyways, I love the strange surreal feel to these drawings. They remind me of Escher drawings, but with a focus on maze-like systems of drains and vents, and lots of square shapes. I applaud you if these are mostly created from imagination. I can't imagine what places would have such weird complex architecture, but if these are copied more from photos, you instead only get a mild clap. But hey its still a clap. The perspective is lovely in most all of these, save for a couple like the indoor one. Overall though I really like the style of these, and its nice to see something different here. definitely keep it up.

| | | I'm guessing the buildings are based on real places but kind of reshuffled into unique shapes. These are great and I'm really impressed. However, one thing I think they lack is an idea of the scale of the drawings. Somehow none of them look like particularly large places. For instance, this one looks very cool, but something about its depth implies to me that it's a meter tall rather than several stories tall.
I'm not saying I have advice on how to fix that--I'm no artist. Maybe put a human element in some of the photos? Make parallel lines recede? But bottom line is I really like these. Oh yeah, and I also recommend linking your photobucket images as I have done, rather than using those annoying thumbnails.

| | | Thanks for looking and the comments, its great to have UE people both appreciate what's there and give suggestions. As far as the process.... Most of these are exaggerations of the general theme of a place I've been to or seen. Sometimes they are based very loosely off a photo or database entry from here, but usually its more from a general feeling I get from a visit to several places. Basically I get an impression of an area in my mind and go from there. There is no really attempt to be accurate to one site for each drawing, most are based on 5 or more sites from 1 or more areas. There are some of them that would be more interesting with either people or vehicles added for a sense of life and scale, and there are others that I prefer the desolate look. There is however one pic in particular that is very close to an actual photo. The one I drew the most true to one picture was based of a great photo on UrbanGlow ( http://siologen.net/pbase/ ), which I can't find on their site anymore. I will remove it or link it differently at the request of the owner of the image. I had been wanting to do an interior and a different view/scale for a long time when I found this pic. I just started drawing it from the monitor. Its not 100% realistic and I did throw in some bits from other interiors I've seen, but its the one based most on a single place/pic.
Thanks again for the feedback.
