This is exactly the thing that can get you in trouble. While I'm not opposed to a crowbar entry here and there, there are seriously better and more fun ways of gaining access to places. plus, smashing that shit in with a brick (and yes, a crowbar, too) can lead to a B&E/burglar's tools charge, which (at least in my state) ups a misdemeanor trespassing to a full blown felony.

| | | Bringing a toolbox would make you look more official, especially wearing the hardhat. Consider though *if* you are caught. You don't want to have broken into the place as opposed to finding an existing way inside. That would be considered break and enter. And if yout toolbox had more in it than camera gear (eg. crowbar and screwdriver) those could be considered break and enter tools. My policy is to let someone else find a way inside (you know, the young 'uns with spray cans) and use their entrance. If it never happens, it never happens. Edit: There is a bone of contention on UER regarding the above. Some feel that it is acceptable to break in and others do not. It depends on the risks you're willing to take. For me, if the hobby in involves committing a crime it's not worth it [last edit 2/5/2009 8:38 PM by Intrinsic - edited 2 times]

The manager at the factory noticed that the lock was being cut through once and shoved a file cabinet against the door so it couldn't be opened. From then on it obviously became necessary to use something quicker.

| | | Posted by NPGuildmaster I was wondering what people bring on their trips: Is there something that you have found extremely useful? What have you brought that you thought would be great that didn't work out? is there anything season specific that you have?
|
I only bring a flashlight, cell phone, 2/3 pocket knives, and sometimes food. I let the other person carry a camera. Most of the places i go to consider climbing to find an entrance for everybody, kind of hard to climb when you have shit in your pockets or a camera on your shoulder.
