| | | | Besides the capability of carrying things like avian flu and a million other bacterial and viral diseases, it also has TONS and TONS of fecal coliforms, which can become airborne, especially through walking through and stirring up the poop.
This can lead to a bunch of awesome illnesses that have diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration as symptoms.
Use a respirator... preferably one with organic vapor filtration. 3M makes a good filter that is both P100 and Org Vapors. Check 'em out.

BUT...
Few other birds roost in large quantities like pigeons. There is less likelihood of seeing knee-high piles of robin shit or oriole shit.
Plus, pigeons are particularly stupid and dirty birds that tend to not be as clean as other birds.
