The cheaper DSLRs that I've played with have unimaginably crappy autofocus systems. Granted, Canon probably could use the autofocusing system from the 40D / 50D or 1d series in all of their cameras without spending much extra money, but then they wouldn't be able to set such ridiculous prices for their better cameras. My K10D has no problems focusing at night, in dark bars, etc... so try to borrow a better DSLR next time.

Hey, my little sister is only friend of mine that does even little bit photographing.

By the way, stay tuned; I have very busy day today, but if I only can manage I will go to photo one new found. Actually it is old found from my little brother, but yesterday he was able to talk me over to get there (his car did broke and I did take some beer to him) and god damned - that place is awesome! Old, quite big house. Abandoned for 10 years for what we've heard, and just one broken window; inside everything is just like it probably have always been. I was ducking angry yesterday because I didn't have camera with me, so I have to try id I could get there today. Sad thing is that days still are so short, light can be problem at afternoon, but we'll see. If not today, then tomorrow or day after that. And sad is that too that weather have turn to plus degrees again (yesterday that houses windows were beautifully iced).

But is there one "good" thing too in this warmer weather - now I have good reason to stay off from the swamp and get in the UE again. I did spent many beautiful and cold mornings on the swamp by this week... Bit of off-topic but...

And after all; thanks for comments, again. I really appreciate 'em.

And here we go with (just) two photos from that new place. It was very beautiful, but as it usually goes, I didn't get much photos because I wasn't alone. And of course I did think yesterday that hell why not - I'll go there alone to catch more photos. Beautiful idea.

But Lancia did disagree.

It did broke again. So that is why there are just two photos.

I am so angry that words can't describe. Just 4000 kilometers since last BIG repairs, and now again. Ain't that enough that last year we did repair that piece of Italian shit for 1 hour for every 100 kilometers (literally, believe it or not). Anyway, now there ain't probably gonna be much photos for who knows how long time. And thats one thing to make me crazy. ARGH!!!

Don't ever get italian car.

Your shots are generally nice, I would however look into people who are doing work like Gregory Crewdson. The subject matter is very different, but the unreal quality of how the light and composition works in your photographs as an unreal cinematic setting makes me think of how he really sets the viewer up for an internal narrative within a single frame. You're already constructing a scene as opposed to documenting in so many ways that I wonder if you could push it more. Maybe you do that with a series, maybe through tiling the works for some large format digital printing. Either way, just a thought. You have a good eye and skill, and I think once you convey your concept more accurately they'll be quite fantastic.

I hate all of you

Holy hell - I've never heard about Gregory Crewdson, so thanks for the clue; his photos are... Don't know what, pure Art at its best or something like that. Wonderful use of light.

Only minus for using people in those photos, I don't (usually) like that kind of photos at all, they are so... Damned, now I lost the word... Would it be "mannered"? I've quite never understand that kind of photos that are somewhere between surrealism and reality. To me pure documentary of reality is that word.

But never say never... I actually have lot of ideas with using people in my photos too, it is just so damned hard to get anyone to other side of the camera.

And where do I live? I live in northern Europe, Southern Finland, in little (and dying) city. Something like 19 000 people, lot of unemployment (over 11 percent) and almost nothing what comes to work; everything has end or taken other countries.

Anyway this place is good for me, nature is near and lot of those abandoned farm house too. Not much to do, just beer drinking and that kind of things. By the way, this town (Forssa) is worth of visiting at least once every year... We have biggest one day car show at northern Europe, something like 2000 cars, most of 'em old American ones. Few photos from last years show can be seen here:

http://s77.photobu.../Pick-Nick%202008/

European Union did kill much life from the countryside, which is sad and makes me angry but at the other hand pure gold mine what comes to "not so urban exploration".

And it can be quite cold here too - it can be something like -22F at winter (mostly something between -14 - 41F by the winter, and summertime it can go as high as 86F, so we have quite lot of changes going on all the time).

That sunrise photo was taken -4F, but next day when I did take those window photos it was near 30F. I did fear that all the ice would have already fade away from those windows, but I was lucky to be wrong.

Thanks!

I was actually dreaming of new photos from that place yesterday, but damned clock was against me, so I wasn't able even visit there. Anyway, windows weren't icy anymore (that I did notice by passing by).

Hello, greetings and everything else from Finland after 4 pints and few vodka shots! I've been living quiet what comes to UE photos, but theres quite good reason for that.

First of all that fucking bitch, '91 Lancia Dedra. At 12th day of january, its camshaft driving belt did broke causing two broke valves, so the name of the game for few weeks was 40+ hours engine fix in COLD GARAGE! Once again.

And now they did put me to some ducking some kind of 'search for work with computer' course. That some way sucks, because I've been using computers since '80s (starting with Commodore 64 (I still have it)) and now I am course where we learn to use computer, I mean really basic use of computer. And it will last for 4 weeks. Anyway 1 week is already done, so maybe I will manage it, even 7 hours surfing in internet when everybody else are studying is quite... Ummm... Boring.

Anyway there were few days with really good (and really cold) weather, so those days I did spent with these kind of swamp views:

But today I did finally get to do some UE, so here we go with Moonspell's Lusitanian Metal on dvd player!

21:51.

At the other post I did tell that there gonna be new photos on this topic today. Have to tell that there ain't. I actually did go to one of my favorite places, but there were some kind of forest sawing thing going on there were I did plant to leave my car, so thats all of it today.

Anyway my mood ain't as good as it could be, because the name of the game (of life) is this:

We did have to end our oldest pony life yesterday because of long lasting hoof fever. Hardest day of my life (and yes, I did cry). I've lost some of people too around me, but none of those has ever feel this hard. Anyway, life must go on, and we still have her son, so... Lets get back to beer. Cheers.

Hey, ho and here we go again! I've been quite busy lately (yeah right with drinking beer, reading and playing Civilization 3 - I did get addicted again). Pony problems (in that case there are positive signs on the air; we did get our pony back home from the hospital, and it seems that he could get cured, wish us luck!), funerals (next saturday) and so on (and on and on and on), even weather has been quite boring so I've been photographing extremely less.

Anyway, here are two from last sunday (and one 'nothing to do with UE bonus' from the same day).

Happy saturday from beside the pint once again! It have been very quiet what comes to UE, or almost any photography; I've run totally out of money, and also weather has been very rainy and very cold lately. But next week I will get my unemployment benefit and my friend did already ask yesterday if we would get to that abandoned grain silo at the end of the next week. I have also already plant little UE search route for myself, so there is hope.

Anyway, here are few from last week...
