| | Lindy Boggs Hospital < on 12/14/2008 8:27 PM >
| | | This hospital was shut down due to Katrina. You can tell it was instantly abandoned because of the immense amount of stuff left behind, i mean everything from; x-ray equip, beds, records, hospital attire, machines, medicine cabinets full of medicine and sample packs, and other random hospital supplies. Granted there looks like bums, construction workers, and other people have raided and destructed this place long before we arrove. Im willing to bet these are the last pics taken of this place, because within a week of us visiting it, it cought on fire three times. Lately in Louisiana we have been experiencing some real cold weather and so I guess the bums migrate into it when it is real cold and hence fires start. The first two fires were minute but the third one was a 3 alarm fire and it burnt the place up real bad, the only thing that saved it was that it happened to be snowing and the snow helped put the fire out(thats luck, I have lived in Louisiana my whole life and I can remember it snowing 3 times). It bumbed me out pretty bad when I found out some idiots burnt this beautiful place up. There was a extensive basement system which is a find because basements are rare in Louisiana, it traveled underneath the whole hospital. We looked all over the basement and upper floors for the morgue, but to no avail. The hospital is pretty old and you can tell the older brick buildings from the shinny white newer buildings, but nevertheless it was huge, awesome, and very unique. Sorry for some of the pics being tilted but i banged my tripod on a wall and jamed one of the lags a little bit. Also if you look at the second bio-hazard sign closely, you can see that it warns or tuberculosis, there was also alot of other stuff labeled with the same words, im guessing but it looks like this hospital provided research and treatment for tuberculosis. Just another taste of what the forgotten city of Louisiana has to offer. Peace Hope ya enjoy!

| | | Nice pics of that hospital. I like old hospitals, especially the mechanical rooms and such. The gear head stuff.

| | | Cool place! Again, I'd like to see 'em bigger; especially the EMT dummy. That's sick!

| | | Did you go to 6-Flags New Orleans too? I don't know if you're in that area or if you hit up the Hospital; But 6-Flags would definitely be on my list before it's repaired/demolished.

| | | Oh wow, that is mad cool. I remember scouting this place out last summer and it still had active security; looks like that's long gone.

| | | Nah, I haven't checked jazz land out yet but I want too, it's coming. Yeah if ya check maps you will see security outside, so we went there with that in mind but luckily it was a simple walk in.
