Polaroid is used a lot in fashion/crime/medical field because of it being such an accurate way of documenting things. Things cannot be edited in anyway, so it's a lot more creditable than a digital photo where adjustments are questionable. Just something to think about.

The point wasn't over polaroid being better than digital, it was that it's stupid to turn a digital photograph into a badly done 'thing'.

i don't shoot digital, so i'm not arguing that

and it's still used in crime fields because of the proof it wasn't edited, not because of the ability of being true to life. every photo you posted is horrible color casted and far from accurate.

credible!=accurate

seems like people must like the horrible color casts if they're trying to recreate them. ahaha.

They haven't used polaroids for almost any kind of medical imaging in years, and no professional fashion photographer would ever use one for anything more than a joke. I'm not dissing polaroids, or your photography (in fact most of your stuff is, I must say, very nice), but I cant sit here and watch you sling pretentious crap about polaroids being in any way technically, optically or even artistically superior to digital or most other film cameras. I myself have owned a couple polaroids over the years, but grew weary of them after the novelty (soon) wore off. They're like lens babies, 8mm fisheye's and oldschool 35mm / medium-format film cameras....a lot of fun to play around with here and there for artistic shots, but woefully deficient for everyday, hobby, or professional use.....

now I look like a prick too :p just rambling after a few too many.

anyways....great set feloniousmonk....even if the faux-polaroid borders didn't turn out so great, the pictures themselves are quite nice. Polaroids can make for incredible colors, and while maybe not as "good" as the real thing, I think a lot of these came out really well.

now that polaroid is gone, fuji brings their instant camera to the u.s. and says:

“In recent months, as availability of instant film has dwindled, we’ve received inquiries from customers in a range of markets here in the U.S. including health care, law enforcement, insurance, real estate, and others, who really need to continue using a traditional instant film solution” said Christian Fridholm, vice president of marketing, consumables, Imaging Division, FUJIFILM U.S.A.

These new wave of imitating film is pointless to me.
There's so much more you can learn using the real medium.
And it's insulting to people who prefer to shoot them.

Yes, god forbid somebody can't afford to shoot film that costs at least $1.00 an exposure but still likes the look of it. Why, he might as well have come into your home, slapped you in the face, and raped your wife!

I don't want to sound like an ass, but none of them come close to the real colors of polaroids. I can't even find one that looks closest.

600 film picks up warmer colors.

Time-Zero Film is mostly blue/cyan/yellow.

new artistic tz warm pastel with cyan shadow.

This whole argument is fucking retarded.
