Quick roadside visit to a granary
< on 10/15/2008 12:54 PM >

Stopped at a granary in a small town near where I live. I wasn't able to go through the whole thing because it was getting dark when I rolled through. Also, the stairs looked pretty rickety and I got attacked by some angry crows...

For those of you who may go in here, be aware that there are several deep, uncovered holes in the floor in odd places. I didn't make it beyond the first floor, but I can't imagine that it gets any better up top. I didn't have cell phone signal there, which complicates the issue if someone took a tumble and got hurt. Don't want anyone to fall in the basement and get stuck...

Q: What's on TV tonight?
A: A book, and some dust. Maybe we should go see a movie instead.

I took me a minute to figure out that was a TV when I was taking the picture. For some reason I had it in my head that it was a vintage microwave. Not that it really matters, but that has to be the most utilitarian TV ever built.

Whaddya expect, it's a TV!

* Crisp black and white picture

* A knob for channels 2-13

* Turn it to "U" to use the other knob for the UHF channels 14-82.

* Outer fine-tuning knob around the outside of each kathunk-kathunk main knob.

* Volume.

* Brightness.

* Tint.

* H Hold and V Hold on the back, along with a couple of screws for the 300-ohm wire from the rabbit ears.

* All in an attractive real wood cabinet that matches any decor.

What more could you want?

However, you do have to supply your own voice-activated remote control: "Hey Junior, go turn it to channel 8 so we can watch Mr. Peppermint".

I think it is because the last place I lived had a crappy, 70's era microwave that looked really similar. And it worked about as well as this TV does currently.

Clearly, this tv had all the amenities for viewing the big three networks in fine style. And I emphasize style because nothing says middle-class like wood paneling layered on top of whatever generic construction material is used, in this case plywood. Its the American way. Hell, we even paid extra for the wood paneling on the family grocery getter.

Great site!
Must be too far off the beaten path to make thievery profitable so all the weird machinery's still there.

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.
