| | Abandoned Family Fun Zone (South Bay) < on 9/25/2008 8:40 PM >
| | | This place used to be my favorite waterpark/arcade as a kid. They stole water from the city, so they closed down the waterpark. This place was where they filmed the mini golf scene for Good Burger the Movie [probably one of the best mini golf courses I've been to.] 5 years later, their arcade turned into shit, and Boomers bought them, and a year after that, it closed for no apparent reason. It's really strange if you ask me, it was called Malibu Castle and I can't find any information about it online. Now there's a bunch of REALLY nice graffiti pieces on the mini golf course, and a nice set-up to skate in the "rivers." I'll definitely be going back here to take more pictures in a situation with less light or long exposure. 1. This guy was the guardian of the river.
2.
3. Looking up at the windmill
4. Nice little castle
5.
6.
7. Flooded batting cages.
8.
9. Only a couple were open like this.
10. Eerie
11. There was a box of random stuff, brand new Disney pins, frames, etc...the box was closed.
12.
13. Front of windmill (you could climb a rope inside and see where the gear is to turn the windmill sorry but I don't have a pic)
14.
15. Like most places that are abandoned, there was a dump of trash. And the fence next to the wall (right) the fence is cut really large.
16. Gate staircase.
17. Most of the holes look like this
18.Watch out for the rough
There's a lot more I didn't post. There's a small western street looking building, a jungle building, and some old Mayan looking hole. All the houses are open, so you can look inside, it was pretty neat. I've been here quite a few times and no one has hassled me at all. I wanna go back when there's a dramatic sunset or maybe at night to get some cool night shots. Maybe one of you will want to join? Hope you guys enjoy!

| | | LA Southbay. And it really is a cool place to check out and easily accessible. There's a railroad on the other side and there's some abandoned buildings I think. Also, past this place if you keep going down the driveway there's a lot with perfect grass and surveillance equipment, so it might be a police dog training area, so that's the only danger. Going up in the windmill and looking at all the grease in the bearing of the windmill is pretty cool too. [last edit 9/25/2008 10:59 PM by 1337oney - edited 1 times]

| | | The waterpark is gone, the arcade building is gone, the parking lot is gone. All that's left is the mini golf course and the batting cages.

| | | HELL YES!!! Awesome find. Do you know how it is at night there, are there a lot of streetlights around, or is it somewhat dark? Taking some night photos would be cool here for sure. Thanks for sharing -Aaron

Well I moved back up last night, and seeing as my media drive died, I have nothing to do anymore in my apartment....UE sounds like it is in order.

Yes sir. And there are no lights except for the freeway or moonlight, but that could give you some interesting silhouettes or other lighting conditions.

I saw that once while heading to a show, but I ended up leaving LA before I had the chance to see it. Next time I'm down.

| | | The best thing about this place, is that theres a park and friggin ride for the Green Line right across the friggin street! You can park for hours, possibly days without any risk whatsoever of getting your car ticketed or towed.
