Shoal Creek Storm Drains

Some friends and I made this trek last month after reading about this on somebody's website. We brought a ton of lights and ended up using them in the scenes, which was kind of fun. I've never seen so many cockroaches before, and I hope to never see that many again.

Whoops, it looks like everyone else is linking to external images rather than use the internal uploader. Is that the preferred method of displaying pictures?

I'd say, despite the recent upgrade, you're still better off hotlinking images from off site.

I like the detail in these pictures. the only thing you might think about is how much light is necessary to convey the feel of the drains? when i think drain, i think dark. Lightpainting has a lot to offer in this regard so think carefully about how you use it. For example, a long exposure of someone walking down the tunnel with a light could make a great picture, especially with a wide-angle lens.

I like what you did with the first picture, it looks like the person is holding a burning torch. I would do a severe crop to emphasize him, and i thought it looked nice in greyscale.

This other picture has potential as well. take it or leave it:

You make a good point. I was intent on keeping the shutter open a bit longer to fill in my shadows with detail and I think I ended up losing a lot of the interesting contrast that you get from being in that environment. I'm sure I could take another pass at the pics to reintroduce some of that, but I'd rather it be something that's taken into consideration while actually taking the pictures.

Yeah way too much light. And I'd like the last one more if it wasn't tilted. Otherwise they're pretty cool.
