Creamery

This was an old creamery that has been closed for as long as I can remember. Usually I know the history of a place when it was open, but other than recent developments, I don't know much about it. Several years ago, the place was bought with the intentions of turning it into a restaurant/club thing. All of the stainless steel, furnishings, and tile work was ripped out and scrapped, which is a shame, but whatever. I heard what they got for a price actually paid for the building, so I can't really knock them for it. Renovations started, then stopped, and it has been sitting ever since.

Some high winds tore down part of metal building attached to the place, making entry real easy, and vandalism became a problem. Since it sits down on a "bad" side of town, out city gov't immediately associates any vandalism in an ethnic neighborhood as gang related (while vandalism in the burbs is just kids acting out), and the place is watched fairly close now. Inside, half finished walls of sheet rock and metal studs are spray painted and kicked in and stuff. Typical vandalism. I didn't stick around long, because there wasn't too terribly much to look at and it was damn hot in there.

All in all, I was disappointed with the place, namely because the people who tried to renovate it removed any vestiges of the creamery itself. What got vandalized was all the new construction inside, since none of the old stuff exists. Oh well. The outside still looks cool, though.

Also, I went out to Tuscon to visit friends and took some pics of the famous Boneyard out there. I know, its as cliché as it gets, but I still dig the place.

Nice building. It's a shame that they have to "modernize" places like that. What is a worse shame is when they gut it and then don't finish it.

I want to go to the boneyard some day. I've been out that way lot's of times and never took the time to go.

I totally agree with you.

...the wings on my shoes shrank now the moths won't eat my kidneys, when i shake my state capital it only yields 3 fairy napkins, but how do i know my banana slippers are like water boats because when the moon winks it burns my hamster punches, and that's how you get to llama school rowing your canoe backwards up main street when the front bumper falls off, do mermaids get to drink orange juice?

Good stuff...I'm sure those shots at AMARC are through the fence, right? You didn't figure out some way in, official or otherwise, correct?

Yeah, the military junk is through the fence. Over, actually. The DC-6 is sitting on a private business's lot, along with some other planes.

I had family with me on the trip which preempted any shenanigans on my part. I'd hate to be the poor guy that got caught and made an example of, but I did scope it out pretty well just out of curiosity. It's definitely possible. but...

Im from Tucson, grew up there.

My Dad was in the Air Force , and we lived on Davis Monthan for quite a few years.

When I used to go to work with my dad, we went out to amarc all the time for him to pull parts off A-10s. I still know a few higher up people out there that could prolly get me access to amarc if i wanted it. With an escort tho prolly. Maybe ill look into it. The private lot your talking about is that the one off Kolb/Valencia area just behind amarc ? Or the other one off Kolb ?

The next best thing to amarc is the Pima air & space museum. Would love to see
Troy P. get out there at night , im sure the results would be amazing.

The Kolb/Valencia area. They were actually out there working, if I had more time than I did and some type of portfolio, I would have gone and asked to get permission to wander inside real quick. I went to the other one as well, but didn't end up with a decent shot there.

We spent pretty much the whole day at PIMA and the tour at AMARC. It's not a bad deal, if you're into aviation. Lots of good stuff there. Would love to get into their back lot as well.

That said, even if you had an escort, AMARC would be incredible. Seeing it from a bus just pissed me off.

My last time out there was 4-5 years ago.

Its cool to get up close, but some of the stuff isnt even that cool to see. beacuse its all wrapped up with the weather sealing materials & Some planes tore apart. They have a Hangar there with a few classified planes ive been told , that are slowly being taken apart piece by piece.

Iono maybe its beacuse ive been out there many times , I dont think anything of it now. I plan on making a trip to PIMA A&S museum soon tho, espically with me being a private pilot and all. I found pima more interesting beacuse you can get upclose and some planes actually sit it and what not.
