Yeah, definitely a polarizer. Maybe a wide angle or telephoto lens. Different angle maybe? Everyone already mentioned subject, which is a given. Next time you take a photo, just ask yourself "why would someone want to look at this?" or "what makes this photo interesting?" because there's nothing in that one that really screams "look at me!" ya know? Just practice though. Experiment with as much as you can and definitely pick up a polarizer. They're pretty affordable. Be sure to post future work too so we can see your progress! =]
