Question Re: Forums

Ok, new to the site (1 month....hey now that I think of it, where's my cute little one month star?! ;) ) and I've been trying to figure out the real purpose of the UE Photography Forum. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems it is just being used to post photos of any UE. If that's so, why post there instead of say a regional forum? Would you post in both? Just trying to sort things as I want to make sure I'm posting things where they need to be. Thanks!

I would say to post in a regional form if you want to share a location. Put it in UE photography id you only want to share your photography, but no real info on the actual place.

i believe when you post in the regional forums you can make your post viewable by full members only, while in photography its automatically publicly viewable.

As well, if my information is correct, if you make a thread viewable to full members only, but you currently aren't one, you are still allowed to see the thread that you created.

This has been perplexing me for a while now and so I must ask...

Regarding forum icons:

What is the Elfin' it up icon representative of (besides an elf)? What did someone need to do at the time to obtain it? Was it an event, time of year, etc.

And the same goes for the Magic Star (which looks like a little wolf)?

I have asked many times and followed several different types of instructions to receive them. So I don't know if any of us will get the true answer to that.

I liked your photo, so I changed mine to that too. If you mind, just PM me and I will change it.

I actually asked Avatar-X a couple days ago. It was something like UER had a call-in on-line radio show or something like that. They no longer run it. But, you got the elf icon for either answering some questions correctly, or for participating or something like that.

As for the wolf icon, I didn't ask about that one. I'm just assuming that it's a special one handed out by Avatar-x to people to possibly do something above and beyond for UER or something like that. But there is a 'Time donated' star which covers some of that. But it's for something along those lines. It's his special way of saying you're special.

I would tell you what the magic star means, but then I'd have to kill you. Besides, you don't want it anyway, getting it burns like hell and leaves a rash for 3 weeks.

Here is how I feel about it:

If I am trying to be artsy and show off some cool pictures I took of a location, I'll post in Photography. If I want to show off some cool pictures I took and know if they are really good or not, I'll post in Photo Critiques. (Which I never do btw.. I feel my pictures still need more work before being worthy of being posted there.) If I just want to show a cool location I found, and I wasn't very artsy with the pictures and just did a point and shoot kind of job on the location, I will post in my region. Sometimes, I'll post in my region and if some of the pics turned out pretty cool or awesome, I'll post in photography or Photo a day (whatever month it is).
