| | Lust for the Rust < on 7/8/2008 12:43 AM >
| | | I read a report a little while back that said the Mon Valley was one of the top 3 "most likely to be bombed" sites during the cold war due to the area being the backbone of the US Steel Economy. My family comes from a town just down the street from these furnaces. I had relatives who worked here - everyone in the area did. Hard to imagine that the mill used to stretch for 3 miles down the river and was one of the most prolific steel producing facilities in the entire world before it closed. These thoughts and more coursed through my head as I drank a beer on top of the last relic of the once great Steel Valley. 1
