Newbie posting pics..Advice?

I'm new to this board and have posted some pics on the NE/Mid-Atlantic boards but I'm curious how people are posting pics. I have the [inp] tags b/c the gallery tag gives me that annoying rollover effect with the logo and the slight delay.
I post them like this:

Just wondering if there is a better way, and how do you do (good) thumbnails? also, any tips on sizing pics efficiently? thanks..

The best way to post pictures is to get some space elsewhere online to store your pictures, such as a Photobucket account and then use these tags to link to them:

When it comes to sizing images, use something like Photoshop to size images down to about 600 pixels in their longest dimension. This makes them a size that most people can see on their monitors at once without scrolling. As for thumbnails, I don't ever find a need for them on this site.

This is a 600x400 sized pic, hosted elsewhere, for example:

Try putting some space in between pics. Just a line or two. Makes them easier to look at.

Number them too so people can give critique easier. Or just to reference them.
