"Because there's no possibility of real disaster, real risk, we're left with no chance for real salvation. Real elation. Real excitement. Joy. Discovery. Invention. | | | Exploring some mine tunnels the other day, we looked down a hole and saw this:
Naturally we had to climb down there and see where it went, I'm sure that red glow and brimstone smell were just in my imagination
And an unrelated mine tunnel, I need to do a better job with my duct-tape waders next time, my boots are still wet

| | | Theres not one window that i saw broken, and besides that one shot of the roof thats a little falling apart, the building looks to be in awsome condition. I mean, even places in the middle of nowhere dont look that good.

| | | Sometimes abandoned places just haven't been trashed yet. I've had the priveledge of visiting one such place. It's breathtaking to see burets and test tubes laid out on a counter of a laboratory, all perfectly intact.

That's one of the things that I love about this place..shut down in '72 and it's mint. There is a caretaker and dogs that keep people away, and it is "in the middle of nowhere". I need to go back and explore the rest of the place but it is risky; while we were upstairs the caretaker drove around twice and freaked us out so we left prematurely...

Happen to know if those microwave horns were powered down before you climbed? They do emit energy out the sides and backs also... Did you ever feel warm while climbing past them? Hopefully not, and hopefully you didn't begin to feel like less of a man as you moved past them. Edit: Removed Maxwell's prior comment about the post he replied to, as it made no sense with this photo. Edit 2: Fixed my edit text. [last edit 8/9/2004 2:09 PM by Arrow - edited 2 times]

One of the big risks of exposure to high-power microwaves is permanent blindness. Eyeballs are, unfortunately, rather good RF rezonators and a sufficiently high-power RF beam can literally cook eyes in situe.

You and me both! I blame it on the summertime. I am not a warm weather person! luckily there is a bout of cooler weather here and I will be able to test my theory. Here are a few pictures from a graveyard, not true UE in my book:
