|  | | | OK so this is a lil embarrassing, im a licenced plumber by trade and i'm not sure what this tray/tub/pan (see pic) would have been used for! 95% of the plumbing work i've do is residential or commercial. i have very little experience with institutional plumbing or fixtures. i've looked in my "Plumbing Fixture" guides, rough-in and reference books and have found nothing!
this fixture is older, its not from my generation, and it would have had a faucet and an 1 1/2-drain fitted to it and a hose or sprayer on the wall behind it. its only about 4" deep, 6' long and stands about knee high...?
Anyone know what this would have been used for? this picture was taken inside a Canadian sanatarium... thanks

Off a ward and it's likely to be a simple 'clean me up' (or slunge as they are sometimes called in Scotland) - whereas in a therapy area, well a multitude of uses are possible. I've heard of these in use (way back with Meths as the detergent) for treating bed-sores too.
