I can't help you identify all forms, but Floor tiles in 99% of them asbestos was only in the 9x9" sized vinyl type tiles.

Asbestos is in many buildings that you would not expect. All they have to do is let people know "asbestos 'may' be here". Generally not a danger to people when the place is active, but after scrappers start breaking down materials and tiles, boards, and walls, that can change. Asbestos was used for soundproofing, as lining for thermal protection, insulation, etc. Not good. But the US still has not outlawed asbestos completely.

Just wear your mask no matter what building you go into. Unless its an active place. Easy enough.

That's retarded. Just exploring is usually so much more dangerous than getting cancer from asbestos when you get older, so why do you bother?

Asbestos exposure becomes a health concern when high concentrations of asbestos fibers are inhaled over a long time period. People who become ill from asbestos are almost always those who are exposed on a day-to-day basis in a job where they work directly with the material...Disease is very unlikely to result from a single, high-level exposure, or from a short period of exposure to lower levels.

I certainly hope not, but I doubt you are exploring as much as a full-time job. You're being unnecessarily careful. Just save the mask and give yourself a more pleasant experience while you're exploring, unless the air is full of dust.

"See you guys, you never listen to me. I said there was gonna be trouble but you didn't listen to me. You guys are crazy. You know, you guys are self destructive. There's a funny farm and it has your names written all over it. But I'm gettin' out of here. I'm... I smell ice cream!"

If I remember correctly, I found to my surprise that Pyrobar blocks do not contain asbestos. They are some kind of dense gypsum or something. I'm glad of this since I've chopped through a number of them with a pickaxe at my old highschool - don't ask. However, I'd look it up yourself to be sure. (sorry too tired to do it myself. gnite)

It could be in anything in any age of house. Example-we did a house demo and had to do a test and abatement. House was built in '83. A test showed asbestos in the kitchen and bathroom sheet flooring. We later find out that some old stock of flooring was used at the time that the builder/owner had on hand.

Generally, here are some places where lab tests have found it on past jobs:

Vinyl or Linoleum tile-any size
Linoleum floors
Window glazing putty
heating duct pipes-used as tape for connections and as additional insulation.
hot water pipe insulation
asphalt roofing
stucco
interior plaster
interior drywall
popcorn ceilings-especially those sparkly 50's and 60's ones.
furnace and water heater flues-the older white clay types.
boiler insulation
thermal insulation-Vermiculite in particular-Google zonolite.
very old electrical panels
asbestos cement siding

When exploring, you should be concerned with friable asbestos. Not everything here is, unless it's demo'd or deteriorated.
