| | | | See, I was much more relaxed in BC! Saginaw isn't as bad as it seems....but there are definitley places that have the potential to be unsafe. Ive run into some sketchy characters. I also took comfort in the fresh snow surrounding and inside the building....nothing but animal tracks. Im headed back on Friday, given its not 20 below or snowing too hard.
What other spots in BC do you suggest? I grew up in Flint...and moved to Oregon for 5 years and Im reaqquainting myself with the area.

First off, a Kodak Easyshare is not a crappy camera. Everything I've posted on this forum was taken with one. You just need to learn to use it, and a tripod, and composition, and exposure, and post-processing.

The second is under exposed, out of focus, and the composition is terribad. This one has more potential, but you set it up bad.
The third is out of focus, and I have no idea how the fuck you got that window to look so weird, but it's ridiculously distracting. This one has the most potential. The composition could be much better, but this is the closest you got to having "good" composition. Read as much as you can about composition, the rule of thirds, and work on your focusing and exposures.
Sorry if this seems harsh, but I hate it when I ask for criticism and get "these are great dude!" when they obviously need a ton of improvement. Hope this helps.

As far as post-processing goes, avoid the heavy handed approach. Do just enough to get your image looking good and then be done. If you don't have a lot of experience with Photoshop, Google can answer just about any question and if you don't know what something does, click it and see. There's always the undo button.

In answer, I edited #3 in PS using curves. Actually, thats where they were all edited. Pic #1...though, I dont believe I did anything to besides resize. I took it minus flash in natural light.
Pic #1 and #3 were taken with no flash in low light. I am going to retry that same room with different shots and shutter speeds.

| | | | Honestly, besides taking courses at your local college or something, the best thing you can do is shoot as much as you can. I really have not been shooting that long. If I shoot something lets say two days ago, then shoot the same thing yesterday, I'll notice a significant improvement from the first time. You just need to shoot as much as you can.
Getting good at post processing takes some time. Do as many tutorials as you can find, and play with photoshop as much as you physically can. Do it until you're sick of it. You'll be surprised at how much you learn just fucking around with the burn tool for 4 hours.
