Happy Chinese New Year!

So today is the first day of the Chinese New Year.

It's the year of the RAT.

I would like to have input on this from Raticus. It only seems fitting.

I am the year of the HORSE.

The description of the HORSE compared to me as a person, is pretty darn accurate. Here is a break down:

These people are extremely independent and confident. The horse person is very quick-witted and is right in there with you before you have had a chance to finish what you are saying: he's on to the thought in your mind even before you've expressed it. In general, these people are gifted. But in truth they are often more cunning than intelligent -

On the other hand these people have an honesty and genuine warmth which attracts lots of people and helps them make new friends. People as a rule confide in horse person because he/she is sincerely interested in their thoughts and feelings and is able to help with both a wise words and an action, but there is a small problem about it - the horse person is so excited by new discoveries that it is difficult for them to keep a secret. This is not something that arises out of malice or revenge - sometimes they just cannot help themselves.

These feisty people love to do good works, assist the poor and heal the unwashed. Go figure. This is a hard sign to live with - for both the person wearing it and his or her entourage. Faithful in love (they ought to be cuz they ain't easy) the Horse adores his family, works overtime to protect and care for them and makes love like there was no tomorrow.

So, whats your animal and does the description fit you?

This is my year! I am a rat.

Here is what they say about me

Though the Western rat is reviled as little more than a bottom-dwelling disease carrier, this animal is viewed much differently in the East. The Eastern rat is revered for its quick wits and its ability to accrue and hold on to items of value; rats are considered a symbol of good luck and wealth in both China and Japan. Clever and quick-witted, the Rat of the Chinese Zodiac is utterly disarming to boot. Possessed of excellent taste, this Sign flaunts its style at every turn. Its natural charm and sharp, funny demeanor make it an appealing friend for almost anyone. The Rat likes to know who is on its side and will treat its most loyal friends with an extra measure of protection and generosity.

Behind that sweet smile, though, Rats are keen and unapologetic promoters of their own agendas. This Sign is motivated by its own interests, which often include money; greed can become a problem if the Rat isn't careful to keep its priorities straight. This Sign's natural powers of charm and persuasion can definitely come in handy! Although they are often hoarders, Rats can be very generous to those in their pack, namely friends and family members who have proven their loyalty. Others might perceive them as quick-tempered and sharp-tongued, but never boorish. Verbal jousting is a great pleasure for the Rat, a Sign that everyone around will quickly learn either to love or to hate.

Rats enjoy being on the outside looking in, as the outside affords a view into the inner workings of a system or situation. The Rat's keen mind always seeks out new knowledge, to be stored away for future use. This ever-curious Sign also welcomes challenges as a way to stay sharp. If boredom sets in the Rat is no fun at all, but that isn't likely; this Sign knows how to keep itself entertained.

A valuable lesson for Rats is to learn to consider others above themselves, at least sometimes. If they can develop their sense of self and realize it leaves room for others in their life as well, Rats could find true happiness.

I didn't realize this was the year of the Rat. The chinese zodiac says that in the year of the Rat, all of Rat's acquaintances on and off the internet, close or casual, even if only through 1 or 2 pms a year, should send $19.95 to 1741 LongTail Drive, RatsNest Texas 71488. So you don't forget, send by midnight tonight.

In return, you will receive this high quality, ultra fuzzy Rat Tail Charm for hanging in a prominent place for all your friends to see. Once they see this fine work of art, they too will want one. All your friends will be asking "Where can I get my own fuzzy Rats Ass"? hehehe

I've read the chinese zodiac, but it's been a while. Actually, I fall in the category of the Ox. It's fairly accurate of me except for the temper part, I don't get mad that easily, also where it says "They always get ahead in the world" ha - who the hell wrote that? And finally, I don't agree with it when it says that Ox's are not tolerant of weak people. I'm actually an underdog junkie. I like to see the weaker player get a little help if needed and win the game.

Here is the Ox's profile -

Oxes may appear docile, but watch out! They also have quite a temper. They are extremely determined and work tirelessly to get what they want. Step by step and piece by piece, they move steadily toward their goals. People born under the sign of the Ox are dependable and stick to a routine until the job is done. They are fair-minded and good listeners, but they can also be extremely stubborn.

Because of their trustworthy character, Oxes will often hold positions of authority and responsibility. They always get ahead in the world. They must be careful not to become slaves to their jobs or profession. Oxes can be forceful leaders and eloquent speakers when the occasion arises. In troubled times they will have great presence of mind and will never be intimidated. They are very proud souls. Oxes are systematic and respect traditions. They mistrust things they don't understand, and they hate loose ends. They can also be vulnerable in romance. They are so straightforward that they don't relate to the love games others play. Since it takes a long time to develop intimate relationships, Oxes like long courtships. Once they have made up their minds, they are loyal and giving-almost to a fault.

Ox people are neat and punctual, honest and hard working. Oxes make ideal mates since they always do more than their share. They have a long memory and remember the little details others miss. Once Oxes are angry with you, they will carry their grievance a long way. When they are unhappy or upset, they will bury themselves in their work until they feel better. Oxes always pay their debts. If they owe you anything, they will never forgive themselves until the debt is paid. They always remember a favor, and though they don't use flowery words, they will show their appreciation in other ways. Their actions speak louder than words.

When Oxes lose their temper, they really lose it! There will be no reasoning with them, so get out of their way until they cool off. Always appeal to the head rather than to the heart of the Oxes. They quickly understand the pros and cons to the situation. Oxes seldom get sick and are not tolerant of weaker people. They should learn how to relax more.

Oxes hate to ask for help. If it takes them twice as long to accomplish something, they still prefer working alone. They want things to last and build them with care. Oxes love their home and family and provide well for them. They do well at long term investments with stability and firm foundations. They are definitely not gamblers. Oxes earn their success by their own merits and don't expect any free rides.

I'm a horse, too. It's tricky, though, because the Chinese restaurant placemat don't mention the fact that Chinese New Year starts in February. My birthday is in January, so I have to look at the previous year. And I'm also on the cusp of two Western zodiac signs, which makes me doubly inscrutable.

J'ai toujours fait une prière à Dieu, qui est fort courte.
La voici: "Mon Dieu, rendez nos ennemis bien ridicules!"
Dieu m'a exaucé.
