I'm drooling here....

Awesome location, I'm jealous.

This looks like a school I explored a few months ago... except this one is in MUCH better condition.

The school, graveyard; full circle. Nice.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Beautiful photography, 2X!
Great colors.
I love the lab.

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.

I haven't seen a thread with shots this exciting since I've become a member.

istakebroad's UER confession for 2007: 2X is my favorite explorer... not only b/c he nominated me for FM, he's got skill when it comes to capturing the beauty of an unappreciated location.

So, people... what are your end-of-year confessions?

Hey, you found one of my favorite locations. Nice shots.
My best friend's dad went there when he was little.

Random fact: The founder of my elementary/middle school is buried in that cemetery.

You should start a new thread with that topic, it sounds fun.

Nice 2x! My parents live near there. I had an email conversation with the gym teacher from that school after he saw my pictures. It was pretty cool to hear about the history and whatnot. I'd have to say that the science room was my favorite part. Also looks like the chalkboard has been vandalized more than when I was there. Did you go into the basement?

Hehe, solid asbestos eh? Nice.

As for the history, lets see...

The school was called the Rodessa school ( I believe it was a middle and high school until the high school was moved to North Caddo High school in Vivian) It was built in 1938 during the local oil boom and was built with oil money. There was about 800 students at one time. The basketball and football teams were called the Rodessa Red Bulls and the football team won the 1948 louisiana state championship. The gym was also at times used for square dancing. The school was closed in 1962.

I've still got this place on my old website... I really need to convert it over to my new one.

Ah, I was wondering why this place looked familiar. Forgot that I had seen it on Rev's site quite a while back.

Thanks for sharing these with us. This place has some amazing photo opportunities.
