| | | I like #2. The curved bannister, rounded door and the moulding on the stairs are lovely. More shots of this would be nice. [last edit 12/18/2007 12:16 AM by phrenzee - edited 1 times]

| | | These just look like random snapshots to me. I'm finding them incredibly boring. Colors are washed out, contrast is too great on the whites, composition does nothing for me. I'm being harsh, but truthful here. The subject matter really isn't worth photographing in my opinion except number one. If you enjoy it, keep at it though and show us improvement. -free

| | | #1 is kind of cool but it seems like your camera focused on the trees instead of the building, and to me the building is the interesting part. #2, I would just take a step back or two if at all possible. The banister is cut off, and it looks like there is some really fascinating light/shadow in the top right corner but we can't see it too well.

to be fair, you might have gotten a little excited with your contrast and/or exposure correction, but i dont find these boring at all. i like the bannister and the door, and the third one is very dramatic, especially with the orange in the leaves beside the blue floor. you have a decent eye, i just think you got carried away in photoshop (or whatever you used). you'll only get better with experience

thanks for your opinion. I consider myself a pretty good photographer, I have been doing this for a long time, semi-professionally, and I guess I don't think I can do much with your criticism except for the contrast comment. I consider my composition carefully, and I thought the subject was beautiful and compelling, and things that I find helpful are specific comments about technical aspects of the photos that other people provided that that you provided a bit of. You didn't like them, they didn't appeal to you--I guess they just weren't your style--but that doesn't mean I am some kind of n00b, which is what your tone implies. thank you for the time you took to comment, though.

thanks for the contrast/exposure note, I will play with them a bit more, and make them more subtle, and see how it looks. I have plenty of experience, but, of course, even the most experienced of us always get better with more experience.
