An Old Friend (HDR warning)

I've been to this little farm several times now. It's nothing spectacular, but it has become my own special location. It has a mystery to it that is really stunning.

Unfortunately these pictures don't really do it justice. My camera and I don't like cold and it was very cold the day I went here. So I just tried to do several HDR shots. These aren't my best work, but they aren't too bad. The sun got in the way a lot on these, but still enjoy.

Peace

I never would have thought those were HDR. They just don't really look it to me. Maybe I'm just accustomed to seeing 'extreme' HDR images here though.

Did you do a custom white balance as you were shooting the images? I feel like the shots from the shade are a bit too blue considering the amount of sky that's also in the images.

Also, I dunno if it's just my crappy work monitor, but there's a huge halo effect over the barn in number 2. I can make out at least five distinct layers of different shades of blue.

It's present to a much lesser degree in numbers 1 and 4 as well. Again, maybe it's just this monitor.

That halo is the sun. In number two I was shooting straight into it, which was a mistake on my part. The sky in #4 is correct though, it was that blue.

That's a good thing in my opinion. HDR is so overdone already, retards that don't know how to do it properly think their photos are amazing just because they can be labeled as an HDR. If you don't know how to do it properly don't do it at all (i.e. me).

Right, but what I mean is I can see individual bands of colour in number 2's sky. Like five separate halos. I'm at home right now and I can see them on this monitor too. I think it's been introduced/enhanced by your processing, but I could be wrong.

Also, I wasn't questioning the blueness of the sky. . . It's beautiful. The overall bluish cast on the barn and silo when you're in the shade was what I meant. In number 3, look at the white parts at the top of the silo, and around the window frames. They're not white, but bluish. The barn itself is kind of purplish.

Maybe this is your intended effect, but if they were my images, I might try to warm up the shaded parts a bit considering how blue the skies already are.

Then how do you learn how to do it properly if you don't practice?
That would seem pretty retarded.

I should have probably reworded that. If you don't know how to do it, don't post it here until you're better at it ;) I wasn't trying to criticize the OP, I was just venting.

I figured as much, but the wording amused me.
