I'd love some criticism, suggestions, and to know what you would do differently with these pictures. Please be as harsh as you want- I really want to get better.

Thanks!

What mine is that? Number three makes me feel like I'm looking west in the range just above Ballarat. Number 2 is throwing my judgement of location off, but it might just be that the colors are off.

I like #1 in concept - but I would have backed up just a bit to include a bit of space below the bottom shadow and to also include the top left nail, it got chopped off. Good use of B&W in my opinion.

Number 2 is an awesome exposure because there is detail in the rock face and the sky isn't blown out. I might have gone with a wider lens to capture more of that beautiful rock.

Number 3 just doesn't do anything for me.

It's at a mine on the upper-mid east side of DV, but you'd have to bug Big Dave for the name of the location. It was at our CV meet last March (I'm slow, I know), and I was along for the ride.

Yes, the colors are off on #2. That was a little two/three foot formation I really liked, and the sand was tinted yellow, but I amped it up a little bit. Same mine, though. I'm shooting with a tiny little Minolta something other other, god knows how old it is. No wide angle to my knowledge... but since I'm graduating from college in two weeks, my parents are letting me pick out a new camera, so I've got my choice.

For number three... I was pushing it. It felt like there was something in the original, but I just couldn't bring it out. I'm fairly inept at photoshop. It was a neat looking shot, with a jet in the sky (you can't see it due to my creative "editing"), but... eh. If you've got any suggestions, that'd be great.

Number one... I cropped that from a larger picture, so I'll see what I can do with your suggestion. I was having a hard time with it, I remember (it's been a few months), because I couldn't get the closest nails in focus. So when I PS'd it, I cropped out the blurry ones and probably some excess.

Jokeplayer's advice on #1 and #2 seems good to me.

In my opinion, #3 actually has the most potential here. It's cool the way the sky is burned out and makes the hills look faint, but its way overdone. I wish I could see more detail. Another thing I don't like is the way that leaning wood railing or whatever it is is partly hidden. I think a better angle would have either hidden it completely, or given it some visual space of its own. I'd be curious to see this image in color... depending on what color things are, I can imagine it working really well, or not at all.
