This is sort of an unusual post but I think it deserves a say. A bunch of us love to explore ghost towns around Texas but that usually requires a 4 hour drive and half a day, not saying its not worth it but sometimes we just dont have the time. Well, Hebron Texas is right here in the metroplex and is about to truly be a ghost. Sandwiched between Carrollton and Plano, it is sure to be annexed in the near future and be no more. Started in the late 1800s it was a pretty good sized community for the time. It had a gristmill a railroad station several general stores and a baptist church/school. Today hardly any remains. The pictures you see are mostly from a year back so what you see is not there anymore....its probably a whataburger or a starbucks. However the church and train tressle were taken this afternoon. And please bear with the photos as for some reason photobucket couldnt get them down enough to be on the board????

One of the old false front stores being removed board by board,

An old stable that suspiciously caught fire........week after it was raised and redevelopment started

The remaining 1920 church that stands as a sentinel to what was Hebron

Oh yeah!! choo choo's. Thanks for the railroad shots and a look at the old town too. I love those old towns, becoming fewer and fewer of them.

The town has been pretty much abandoned for the better part of 20 years, maybe more. It sold itself for development, and slowly withered away. I used to take off at lunch and drive around the country roads as they were being bypassed for new suburban boulevards -- I've been a roadgeek since I was a kid, and I especially like abandoned roads (I'm dying to get to Tulsa again to see the abandoned mile of I-44). But there's not much left to see, and the traffic is so bad that you can't get there on a lunch break any more.

J'ai toujours fait une prière à Dieu, qui est fort courte.
La voici: "Mon Dieu, rendez nos ennemis bien ridicules!"
Dieu m'a exaucé.

you got it, used to ride my dirtbike over there (like 20 years ago) and cruise around, but now its absolutely nothing. I grew up in Carrollton and went to that church for a while.

And I pulled (bought) a 1964 Impala SS 327 from a guy down that main street back in 1994.
