| | | | UER in Japan? i want to meet some members < on 11/13/2007 7:00 AM >
| | | hello everyone of uer community
i m louis, french photographer from japan; im 26 years old, and i suffer from the same disease as you... i mean a strong and dangerous passion for exploration, mostly for modern ruins... I ve been living in japan for a year now, and i ve been hunting ruins since this time. i visited the most famous ruin in japan,Gunkanjima, maybe one of the most impressive ruin with Pripyat in Ukrain that i would love to visit... unfortunatly, i couldn t meet much people here in tokyo, even if Kuroneko posted an impressive list on uer. i wish i could post some pictures and new location but i guess i ll have to wait for my full membership. if you want to see some of my pictures you can look at http://www.louiscy...als.com/ruine.html and http://www.louiscy...om/gunkanjima.html hope to have some news from the members here in japan and be everytime careful while exploring something... you can see the story of my accident here http://www.uer.ca/...d=1&threadid=50183 take care, Louis

| | | I've got a few friends in Tokyo who are interested in what I'm doing and are always asking about UE in Japan. None of them have registered on here yet though.

| | | Hey Louis, Have you been to Toyo Bowl yet in Aichi, about 20 minutes from Nagoya? I went a few weeks back, great place, but if you want to go you have to be quick, it is going to be knocked down pretty soon. Still annoyed I missed Gullivers Kingdom as that was demolished too.

| | | I am near Kyoto, if you are ever in my neck of the woods, let me know. The only downside is I won't be here much longer. I have already scouted out Nara Dream Land and that is probably going to be my next trip. [last edit 11/20/2007 3:26 PM by Mogwai1313 - edited 1 times]

| | | hey Mogwai1313, I've been considering Nara too, when are you thinking of going? I checked on some Japanese sites, one guy said he scouted it out but there were still some security guards milling about.

| | | There are security guards still around and that makes the main gates pretty much out of the question. I walked the perimeter of the place and aside from having the Jesus scared out of me by a motion sensor alarm telling people not to dump their garbage, there isn't much of a presence there. The place is a pretty good size and the security detail seemed to be one or two people and then people still at the main gate. Even if you didn't use one of the various holes in the fence or a back route, the ancillary buildings alone would be worth checking out. I found a way in through a gate that lacked one of the bars only to be stopped by an unlocked gate being held shut by massive vines. That entrance was the best by far and also a tad creepy due to the statues of nutty looking native Americans staring at me from beyond the fence. Going in would need to be either a very early in the morning thing or a very late at night thing and the only downside to that is the theme park is in the middle of an upper-class neighborhood and I got some stares just by walking through the place by myself. As for when I am going in, I am not sure. I am not in Japan for much longer and if I go it will need to be pretty soon but my job is being troublesome in that sense. If I get a concrete time I am going down, I will PM you.
