Hey what's up. This is sort of my introductory post to the photo section, these are a few of my more recent shots of some Long Island asylums. Let me know what you think, comments and/or critique are welcome.

I might critique each one tomorrow, but I'm too tired to tonight, so here's what I gathered by scrolling down through them.

They look way too dark and underexposed. Some have a lot more grain than they should. I think you used a flash on one. Don't, flash screws up any picture you take (unless of course we're talking about a real flash, not the little pissbulb on your camera). Composition on the interiors are lacking, you cut a lot of what I'm assuming the subjects are off.

I'll post more tomorrow maybe. But for now, I'm off to bed.

I really liked the first one, and the seventh one had some interesting colours. 4 would be interesting if you cropped it closer around the building. Quite a few of them are underexposed, such as 2, 5, and 8, although your main mistake is which side of the building you're photographing. Some are ruined by too much noise, such as 9-12.

The first one is really good though. How long was the exposure?

Cools thanks for the input and keep it coming. Keep in mind that #11 is supposed to be dark I took a lighter version but I think this one looks cooler, the rest could of used a little more exposure. I'll probably post up a few more shots tonight.

There's no such thing as a noob question! How else is a person to learn?

Virtually every digital camera (and in some cases photo editing software and scanners and stuff) embeds a set of data called "EXIF" (Exchangeable Image File) in each image it creates. It records information such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO value, focal length, whether the camera is in manual or automatic mode, whether the flash fired, etc. etc. etc.

Anyway, I have this decent add on for Firefox called Exifviewer. You can right click on an image and select the "View image exif data" option. It works about 50% of the time, considering that some images have had the exif information either intentionally or accidentally stripped.

I'm guessing you mean black and white? The shot is in color, it was taken at night with an overcast sky there was plenty of light pollution though which is why the outside looks so white. I went a little much with the red light, I have a habit of doing that. And what would you recommend for the post process on 3&4? I don't really edit my shots, I might of changed the brightness in #3 5% or so I'm pretty sure #4 is how it came off the camera.

Anyway thanks for the input everyone here's a few more shots:

If that is how they're coming off your camera, you're doing something wrong. What are you shooting with?
