I totally agree Robert. Very few things that get under my skin quicker than a fucked up Barney Fife rent-a-cop. I don't usually broadcast it but what the hell... here goes. I am a former cop. I've been through the training, the academy, the whole 9 yards. So I know a little about it. And nothing pisses me off quicker than some jack shit security guard who now things he is a captain in the Texas Rangers. Mind you, I don't have anything against security personell, as long as they do their job and ACT like security personell. What pisses me off is when they start trying to quote law about what you can and cannot do and at least 7 times out of 10 they are so wrong it's pathetic. Anyway, my rant of the morning.

Go ahead Robert, you can say it.... a DICK. There are definitely those out there too and I have no use for them either. The only thing worse about these guys than the one's mentioned above, is these idiots are toting a gun.

Please tell me someone *didn't* just whine about their free speech "rights" on a privately-owned board. You should go for the win and cite the First Amendment. That way, someone can razz you about the whole ".CA" thing, eh? As for cops... give me a real cop over a rent-a-cop any day. I have a lot more sympathy with someone who puts his life on the line, over one whose biggest threat is someone entering the building without signing in. At work, they just changed from the old do-nothing security company to a new look-busy company, after the do-nothings let a box full of checks to the cafeteria walk out of the building one weekend. The new guys have spiffy navy blue uniforms with red epaulets that match the pimples on their faces. But they do check those employee ID badges. Of course, there's good and bad on the cop side. I remember one guy in a small town, one of those dudes who graduates and then can't figure out what to do next. He joined a couple of years out of high school. One night, he pulled up next to me at the Sonic Drive-In and told me if he saw me driving with my cat in the car again, he'd give me a ticket. For what, Driving While Impurrrrred? Last I heard, he's still a cop, 20 years later... and still a [insert phallic reference here].

Please tell me someone *didn't* just whine about their free speech "rights" on a privately-owned board. This was a reply to someone asking to remove a comment. The individual who asked for the comment to be "edited or totally removed" did not like what was being said. My comment was meant as sarcasm, thats all. This is a privately owned board that is used and funded by people with many different views from many different parts of the world. Which is totally ok. I agree with all your other points totally. This was just to clarify.

Yeah I agree also rent a cops are the worst. I need to clarify as well...I have some good friends that are DPD officers and they are cool as can be, but really the smaller cities around here seem to have the more anal and obnoxious officers. When you get to the bigger cities they have more stuff to worry about like murder etc... On another note campus police are sometimes just as bad as security.....had a particularly bad experience with TJC police. But hell yall thats just life.

| | | Better get used to dealing with it. Just like the U.S. govt hires privateers like Blackwater to do things they cant or wont do because of charter or liability, the urban/metro environment will start seeing a trend towards hired guns and private security. Dallas already employs one particularly professional security firm to guard several of its more secure facilities. A half million dollar a year contract is going to guarantee results. They are no bullshit guys too. All squared away, all packing a Glock and most are bi-lingual. Dont mess with them dont run from them, they have more authority to put a round through you than the police do on the property of their client. (2X tip of the week: when you see private security carrying a wad of those nylon zip cuffs in their hip pocket that means they dont mind the hassle and liability of making arrests)
On the other hand I could tell you about several location around here where the security is 18yrs old, unarmed, or female (sorry its true) and spend 90% of their shift playing video games or screwin off. I could tell you but I wont

Yep, you are right. I've butted heads with those pricks, I mean officers, a couple of times myself.

| | | I had a similar experience to Happiedaze when I shot in Saginaw and Blue Mound...I didn't see a sole the entire time I was there, and I was on the grounds of the Attebury elevator for at least an hour, walking all over the place. There are a couple places you can get inside certain areas there too. Here are a couple shots from my night out that way:

I almost always shoot ISO 100, sometimes 200 if I don't have much of a moon to work with.

Thanks! Yeah, they were really the whole point of the shot...my sister used to go around collecting these, and when I showed her this she went nuts. FYI...I illuminated the insulators with an LED flashlight during the exposure, to bring out the detail in them.
