No more Passengers

It was not a great day, we've tried already 3 locations and we couldn't find a way in. On the way back already we stumbled across these abandoned old trains. Already late in the afternoon (and about 4 hours drive away from home) we doubted if we should check it out. Glad we did!

There were freight wagons

1

2

Old passenger wagons (is this correct English?)

3

4

5

6

With a nice interior

7

8

An old (American?) Diesel locomotive

9

10

11

This i believe is a steam locomotive from around 1912.

12

And last; a work in progress:

These are really great photos, I don't see any need for critique. I love old trains, the passenger car and locomotive are really cool. In english wagon = car

What a find. I am glad you checked it out too. I love the seats in 7.

Sorry, I know you want critique, I just don't feel up to it at the moment.

Que pasa, baby?

awesome job. great detail in all.

i love 7.

my only critique, more like wish, is that the top wasn't cut off of four, maybe looked a little more like 9 but tighter.

great all around, martino!

I wish my not so great exploring days would turn out half as beautiful. I love 13 and 2 for sure minus those pesky powers lines.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.

I'm assuming these were to be restored as part of a museum? Very nice find!

Thanks! I don't find the power lines annoying here.

yes indeed! They belong to a small group of volunteers that collect money in some way and they buy these old trains and restore them and they sell them to museums.

I think #9 may be a small shunting engine, that a rail company would have used to move cars around a yard with.

Thanks! I know about the barrel distortion. pfff. If I only had the money to by me a really good cam or lens or both. But I must not complain. These are all shot with a canon 20D and just one lens; 17-40 mm (so digital it becomes something like 23 - 55 mm?)

edit: I try to get it out sometimes and it works sometimes! But for some shots it's just impossible! I tried also different software for lens correction, but i haven't found one that i'm happy about. So I do everything manually.

haha i didn't mean it as a terrible thing!
it shows ever so slightly in a single picture and i've never noticed it in any of your other photos so i wouldn't lose sleep over it!
it's a critique forum, so i had to point out SOMETHING

haha does it sound that bad?

It's probably because I notice it every time and i hope no one sees it, but i see it and therefore it irritates me.

Thanks for the criticism! This is exactly why i post all my shots in the critique forum.

These are really great. I'm too burnt out to give you a lengthy critique right now, but you're way on the right track....gorgeous...not a serious clunker in the bunch.
