Question, how 'unethical' is it to UE an abandoned church? Personally I don't believe it is, any other views? I found one yesterday in a cemetary. It doesn't look very old, just ALL windows and doors are boarded up, so I would have to bring a pry bar to get at it one day, then come back and explore.

People have different standards and views, I'll give you mine. I don't think there is any problem at all exploring an abandoned church, any more than there is exploring any other building. I've done it.

However, I do think there is a problem with any exploration where you have to bring a pry bar or otherwise force your way in. My personal rule on that is, if I can get in without forcing anything, I'm in. If I have to break it, pry it loose, cut it, etc., I'll wait. That's just me.

I know when Catholic churches are vacated, the building is "de-holified". I'm not sure with other denominations. I'd explore it regardless.

Both of you made some good points. Thanx. lol, I think I was gonna explore it regardless. Just curious, and well, maybe there was something I didn't think of. Also, I just got back from checking out the perimeter, and it looks kinda maybe like a challenge to get in, BUT it also looks rather promising. So I don't know, I'm gonna go back tomorrow and have another look.

Check it out closer. You might find a way in that doesn't require any prying or anything. Sometimes there are boarded up windows that are already half loose, those sometimes make easy entrances. Would love to see the pictures if you get in.

Already did that. It was recently boarded up, and the crew who did it actually did a decent job of it....bastards. The only way I can see how to get in now well there's two ways now that I think about it. One of the windows is screwed closed from the outside, and the other, which seems like oh so much more fun is to go in Mission Impossible style through the bell tower ...and as I say this my girlfriend is looking at me and shaking her head. But I'll probably be checking it out again some time this week, it really does have my interest.

Hey efrain, let me know where that church is when you pry it open!!! ;]

Anyway, nope not by LC at all.

I'll try to give a detailed description right now as best as possible:

You basically want to be travelling TOWARDS Pineville Expwy on 107. You then go under the underpass and you have an option to go onto the highway or go straight and end up near LC. (If you take the option to go onto the highway, there is also another turn in to go to LC) If you went thru this, you went to far. What you want to do is backtrack to the last light and turn into that neighborhood. You know you are at the right 4-way when you see an open lot, and the post office at another corner (or something like that). You then want to turn into the small 1 lane road in that neighborhood and immediately take a right, and the next left you can take, take it. Follow that road and you'll come to a small curve and the "nursing home" will be on your left hand side. Parking lot and all.

Parking: Generally to hide suspicions, I park my car (if it isnt muddy) behind the church-type thing there.

Entrance: Don't bother breaking a window as someone politely (not me) broke open one of the doors! From the parking lot head to the main entrance and follow the path to your left. Go all the way down to the last door and you'll see a nice window gap. You can easily climb through to get inside. Have a blast from this point on, but you want to be really quiet as the neighborhood has a lot of dogs. One loud sound and they all go nuts. Other than that try to find:

- The Piano
- The freezer
- The pastor's office
- The front desk
- I believe room 109.

Room 109 is a good one to check out if I have the number right at the top of my head.

EDIT: If this sounds too complicated we can get something going this week and meet up somewhere on 28 and I can show you exactly where it is at. Nice place. If you'd like to try that (as it's hard for me to be on forums X amount of time at work, you can hit me up at my work e-mail at [email protected])

I've been wondering about this place, but haven't made it up there to check it out. Go here and take some pics for us:

Well its about 30 min from where I live, I'll see if I can check it out this weekend. I've been pretty busy as of late and haven't had a chance to explore.
