Looking For Bay Area People

Just moved to the Bay Area (Oakland). I'm ready to start exploring but don't know anyone to go with. Anyone game for some urbex in the next few days? I'd like to start with the Oak Knoll Veterans Hospital since someone suggested it may be being torn down soon, but then again, that's always the rumor about abandoned places. I have a car, and will gladly drive. Anyone?

If anyone is doing, well, anything, in the Bay area up to Novato....PM me if you want someone to go with you. I don't like to go places by myself and since I moved here from Michigan I don't have anyone to go with....and the fiance won't go with me since he's got a job that depends on a good record LOL.....

Yuppers! I'm game for anything. Been wanting to hit up some sites on the east bay and north bay.

Or y'all can do stuff around here. We've got everything you can imagine and more.

Going where others can't...

I'd be down. I live in the East Bay. It's just a matter of the parents not finding out...

All you noobs need to meet each other, team up, and go on a mission together. I'm thinking a meet and greet pizza party somewhere in Oakland or Berkeley. Trying to meet someone you don't know, at night at an abandoned site for the first time is always a little sketchy.

How's about sometime in early January, or maybe even sooner?
How about Friday night, December 21st? We could be grungy and go to Laval's subterranean pizza place in downtown Berkeley.

The less complicated the better. Meet at a restaurant, hang out, eat, maybe drink, then people can out where they want afterwards, if they want to.

I really liked the atmosphere in that place. Homeless people nursing a beer, underage kids playing pool looking super shady, hard drinking sports fans. I've even played in some of the bartender's all-night poker games after closing. Too bad about laval's. It was a shit-hole, but my kind of place nonetheless.

Still, let's do something next Friday. Who's in?

Aww...sorry I'm too sketchy for you, Freeside. :/

And I'd be interested in attending this meet and greet you speak of. I've got a much better work schedule lined up for Fridays now so I won't be sleepwalking by the end of the night, too.

I'd love to do this, but I would have to think of something to tell the parents besides, "hey, I'm going to go eat pizza with people who are into urban exploration, who I met online. Bye."

And the little Santa annoyed me greatly, while typing this out.

A big part of a juvenile male's cognitive development is achieved via the formulation of plausible cover-stories to be presented to skeptical parents.

However, if your imagination is deficient, simply try the truth, and if they don't like it & tell you that you can't go, give them a lecture on how they should respect the maturity you demonstrated by being honest with them, and if they fail to let you go out, the lesson that they're teaching you is that you will need to paint a pretty lie for them ("I'm going out to meet my Economics Club study group at the library") the next time you want to go out.

Your parents are probably around my age (^%$#*@!), so if you try the truth, tell them it'll be like a scene from an old TV show they probably watched called Happy Days -- the setting will be like Arnold's diner. You will be one of numerous Richie Cunningham/Ralph Malph/Potsie Webber types in attendance, there will be a couple alpha-male Fonzie types, and we'll all sit around engaging in harmless (& probably meaningless) fun, maybe busting out a few Christmas Carols too.

As for that Santa, Reindeer & Snowman stuff moving around the screen, if you study it enough, you'll see that it's actually a coded signal which is hinting at the secret screen commands to give yourself automatic full-membership to UER.

I was going to be helping Dirt move up to Oakland on the 3rd but I'll be in town until the 6th if anyone is up for anything then. If not I'll just go hang out in Marin some more.

Tourism, human circulation considered as consumption is fundamentally nothing more than the leisure of going to see what has become banal.

Serously, do we have a calendar? Or should I set up like, a Google calendar for us all? LOL!

Did you guys mean last Friday or this Friday? If it was last Friday I missed it - if it's the 21st, I may be able to go.
