I feel like the lower part of the table make all the difference.

That one is just a little different vision, not really better..

I dont know how long you have been taking photographs but for the most part you learn the rules of composition and dont need to crop.. set up the shot.. Know what you are shooting..

The second one the black and white is just a little to black and white.. Lighten it up and next time get a closer.. The girl is lost in the darkness and i can see someone else in the right side of the photo.. Good work on the first one though..Ill be interested to see more.. Keep em coming

The new " vision " is much better on the second one

This is a minor crop, the viewfinder may not even show this part, aloso, lines can't always be perfect. Just my opinion..

Oh I agree 100 percent..

I was merely stating that small oversights in time will be remedied by experience.. Sometimes cropping is necessary..

That actually does seem to be the case for me. Also I wear glasses when I shoot and the lighting was poor. The spotmatic doesn't exactly have the best viewfinder especially after all these years. Or did I take that with the K1000...ehh I forget. But I have found recently that There has been a bit more in the image then I can see through the viewfinder. It also takes longer to adjust and notice these things when starting to learn with film as It's awhile before I get it developed. I really should have taken some notes when I shot some of the pictures to compare and help to remember.

this isn't 100% true in my opinion
even a 3000$ camera doesn't usually give you 100% in the view finder, they typically hover around 95% so cropping is inevitable.

especially when using any kind of lens correction software for straightening out some lines, no way you could NOT crop an image

First, I like the picture with the little bit of table visible under the chips. Controleman is right.

Also, I crop about half the photos I put online and never think twice.

From a drain photographer who spends a lot of his time figuring out where in the frame to put the cracks between sections of concrete: It's always preferable to have to crop after the fact than to make the wrong crop "in-camera".

Ideally you should just be cropping to tidy things up a bit. If you're finding that you consistently have to crop out more than a quarter of what you saw in the viewfinder order to get a decent composition, then you should probably start paying more attention when shooting.

Use controleman's version...and crop an inch off the right, to get rid of that mysterious piece of crap on the table - it's distracting Nice photo though.

Yeah the chips on the right have been bugging me. meant to get rid of them as well, but all I have to edit photos with is MS paint, so simple cropping is really ALL I can do.
