I'm not really sure what kind of bone it is... hopefully it's from the leg of some animal.

Luckily, I only saw one red wasp that I willingly stepped to the side and let fly by. Those things are evil. Next time, I'm going to be a little more careful though. Hate to learn the hard way like you did!
