Well, yeah, they are probably thinking I'm a terrorist now, but all I said was "Thanks for the wall map, can you e-mail me the more detailed digital ones you were telling me about?" Next thing you know I get an official looking e-mail saying "we will have to wait for the atty, general's approval before you can have that info" If you don't hear from me in the next couple weeks its probably cuz the DHS has me locked up in a cage somewhere.

City officials are ask to report all suspicious activity... Ummmm, do you really want the AG's office investigating you? Sounds like your really making this too easy for them.

I wonder how many "suspicious activities" they get down there, I'm sure there has to be quite a few, and no I really don't want them to do it, I just asked a simple question, if I knew it was this big a deal i would have said keep your fucking map. p.s. Let me make it clear that I am not actually "under investigation", It is required by the city that if they cannot provide the information I ask for, that they must, by law, have a valid reason not to. It's part of the public information act. That is why the Attorney General got involved. so no, you wont see me on the FBI's 10 most wanted. sorry.

Simply pointing a camera at the wrong thing in a public place can warrant an investigation and visit from DHS. You did a tad bit more than that I would say; how they perceive it is any body's guess.

| | | Maybe they'll find out that he's an urban explorer who's researching drains. Good heavens me! The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Seriously.. I know it's the United States and all, but you guys need to chill the fuck out. He requested a map, not a book on how to build a bomb and blow up buildings. Blackhawk, I think you need to get over your DHS incident. Sounds like it was just a formality on their part, and at least now they understand what it was you were doing and know you don't pose a threat. You also need to quit using it as an example to strike fear into the hearts of new people around here.

With all due respect Micro, you are failing to see how serious the US government does take homeland security, sometimes. You don't muck with them; they're the wrong folks to piss off. Fear is your common sense talking to you.

Well, some use them to rob security vaults and such. I guess that's were the AG's office comes in. There real Q is what is he going to tell them it's for?

| | | blackhawk--you have a TALENT for blowing things out of proportion--the AG is probably asked as policy--I doubt it has anything to do with a specific investigation---further, if asked what he wants them for, he is free to answer "curiosity" or "none of your business"... Neither of these things are illegal, and providing he doesnt have some uber-ninja plans drawn up for pwning the local bank--its not like they can call it conspiracy... so have a beer and relax.

| | | If it was me, I'd just tell them I was researching the city's drainage system and if they pressed further I'd say I was writing an article. The worst they could do is refuse my request. Big deal. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Like you always say, if you're not doing anything wrong, then you don't have anything to worry about. Besides, it's not uncommon for drainers to go to to their local planning department in order to gain access to such maps and a certain amount of red tape is to be expected. I'd do it myself, but I find that detailed maps kind of take the fun out of draining.

I have a talent for finding things when I look; laugh all you like, until you find out what I already know. Try saying that bs the a field agent with 15+ years experience, and see what happens. It's a lick on you.

| | | I agree with Blackhawk on the subject of being more cautious around the DHS, I know what power they have, but it's true that the A.G. can just say no and that will be the end of it, its not like I'm threatening to sue them or make any other kind of big deal about it. I don't think the DHS would go after a kid just for saying "can I have a sewer map?" I'm sure they have bigger fish to fry right now.

You sound like a ringer to me the more you pursue this line of rhetoric. Your barking up the wrong tree.
Congrats, I see your killing threads now too, just to flame me. How touching. Best go swap spit with... someone else. I'm contagious, and I like to share.

thanks, actually I don't know the exposure time, all I have for a camera is a dinky little point and shoot, I put it on night mode and turned the flash off, then I used an led flashlight to get the blue effect.
