| | | Does anyone have any experience with it? I was doing some recon and noticed a sign advertising its use. I was planning on hopping the fence and taking some pics of the campus from the building being constructed and maybe from a crane (as well as pics of the building and the crane) but now I am not as sure. Thoughts? "In an effort to address these concerns, DeWalt is introducing SiteLock, a portable, wireless alarm system designed specifically for the construction industry. The system uses patented wireless technology to monitor numerous pieces of equipment or areas at the same time. SiteLock includes a portable base unit, which is stationed in an indoor location, that works with five wireless sensors. According to the company, if an intruder tries to enter a secured area, disturb a secured piece of equipment, or remove a sensor, an alarm is activated and a wireless signal is sent to a monitoring service."

| | | No, but go fast and take pictures, and you will usually be alright. If an alarm goes off, someone has to drive there usually. It'll take a few minutes.

| | | Turns out the cops (campus police) came faster in this case (I'll probably post in South with the details). But to address the SiteLock security system, it turns out that it is to prevent breaking into the construction buildings and stealing big hardware. It is made up of the central unit and some locks and cabling you can put on vehicles, doors, etc. For 40 bucks a month the buyer gets a monitoring service that calls the owner and cops on request. It sucks.

| | | AVE... No worries. Just use Scanner and hi-power portable multi-band transmitter to find correct band and jam it. I used this method two years ago to jam communication system of one taxi corporation in my city. Unfortunately I lost my jamming equipment because of storm. A lightning fried it...

| | | It doesn't suck. They have an assload of pesos invested in that equipment. If it were to turn up missing, good luck getting it back if the cops even DO find it. You need serial #'s and/or initials engraved in each piece. Insurance is even worse.

| | | A jammer might not be the best idea, since this system uses heartbeat-style monitoring to make sure the sensors are still intact and haven't left the site or been ruined. So it would stand to reason that jamming the system would cause it to read all it's sensors as no longer responding and get really pissed. Furthermore, I'm not sure why you decided to jam a taxi company... but I'm sure it goes without saying that the FCC would be enraged at such activity; I might not so openly discuss it if I were you.

| | | Can't imagine much interesting on a college campus anyway. It's not like some super-ultra-sekrit-missile system anyway.

| | | AVE... Optik, jamming will surely cause the alarm to be very pissed. But after few hours of pissed alarm system, owner will turn it off... And then the way is wide open. And the taxi company was a competition to my father's taxi...

| | | You get caught at the site expect a misdemeanor trespass if your lucky. Burglary tools (a scanner, even a flashlight) will win you some felony charges. If they catch you tampering with alarms... your gonna get so jacked up. Why not go in the day, and ask permission to shoot from the site foreman? Bring a hardhat. Or just walk in with a hard hat and a vest on, and inspect the place if it's the thrill.

I used "building inspection" disguise to get to highly secured area. I borrowed vest and hardhat from my friend, printed some important-looking documents and just went there with clipboard. I repeated "Building inspection!" to everyone, asked some questions about fire alarms, electric installation, fireproof materials and looked really serious. The fact I look younger than I am, didn't matter. People are idiots, they will trust you as long as you look and act properly. In august I'm going with my friend to city archive to copy maps of sever and storm drains systems, and, with luck, maps of old, medieval tunnels. For this I will become a Department of City Planning and Infrastructure Development cow-orker, and my friend will be my cousin, who makes school project about various types of maps...

Ummmm, can't say about the laws out of country, but in the US, I would not go mucking around "highly secured" areas, that includes residential (including any institution with residents), military, federal, and R&D facilities. Impersonating a public official and/or trespassing at the wrong location can net you with some ungodly expenses, felony charges, and possible jail time. Many times the workers know who the inspectors are quite well...
