Back from New Orleans

I got back from my trip to NOLA yesterday and was able to get quite a few photos of a bunch of abandoned places: Some houses, the navy reserve building (wasn't able to get in tho), an apparent former furniture store and an apparent former school as well as a burned out hotel, a building that says it was a twine factory, a gas station and some other places I'm not quite sure what they were.
I'm hoping to get time to go through and post some shots this weekend for all to see and with some luck I hope to identify the places I'm unsure of.

And contrary to the advise of most board members I didn't feel unsafe at any point really. The only place my wife didn't want to explore was up in Baton Rouge. While exploring one place we even ran into some homeless guys and they were very nice, suggesting that we be careful not to get caught by the cops in the building.

Anyway, photos coming soon.

See? I told ya not to worry. =) Glad you had a safe trip. I was actually just thinking, "What happened to that guy that was going to New Orleans? I hope he didnt get kidnapped after I told him everything would be fine..." haha
I went down there Wednesday to take photos. They're not very good but I'll probably put them up at some point anyway. I look forward to seeing your shots. What parts of town did you go to?

LOL, yeah, apparently they are. I'm not saying I've got balls of steel but damn, I don't hold irrational fears of black people or anything like that.

I'll try to start posting tonight if I get the chance and continue as I have time.

We stayed in the garden district but more towards the bad part, made it easy to walk to abandonments. We drove all around (put more than 500 miles on the rental car) but there was lots of good stuff near us as well as around canal st.

Here's the first batch of photos. This is just a random house I spotted while stopped to UE another place. As you can see it is falling apart pretty bad so no interior shots.

Those are pretty neat. That house looks so lonely and broken.

Thanks, the house actually seems to look even better in th photos. It was on a corner with houses on the other 2 sides fairly close but it just seems so much more isolated in the photos. And as for broken, for sure.
