Ethics among us!

OK Is it a true exploration if you own the property? Let me finish, I am buying a building that hasn't been stepped in for 10 years It belonged to an old friend who passed and the family just locked the doors and never went back in. I am buying the property and the shop pretty quick. It is an old garage and machine shop. Now I have looked in the windows and such but won't get the keys to it for about a month what do you think?

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be ever at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rain fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand

I'm going to say yes, not as "ballsy" as some people may like, but as long as you haven't been there or haven't seen it all, its all UE. You could explore the attic in your own house and it would be considered UE in my opinion.

You're only as young as who you feel!

Sure, go for it. It's exploration on the grounds it hasn't been entered in 10 years...Document it before you clean up or change anything.

edit: Nice user pic, by the way. '67 Mustang with the Eleanor bodykit...gotta love it. Yours?

UE is what YOU want it to be. Don't let other people define what it means to you.

Exploring is like tattoos... They stopped being cool in 2005

I explored a place that was for sale with my father before, that we were going to by for a crane yard, actually I have been in many garages that were for sale, and I considered it UE, but usually the owner would show up after us, and we would talk about the place.

Maybe you should consider spending a little bit of that money at Ye Olde Punctuation Shoppe if you're going to be posting on the interwebs and expect people to understand your sentences.

TO ME, urban exploring is the exploration of man built things that most people don't normally see or don't care to. (In a nut shell)

Some people think its lame if you're allowed to be there.

Some people think its lame if you get permission.

Some people might think its lame if you OWN it.

However...

If its something that hasn't been entered in 10 years, thats just cool. I don't care if you have permission OR own it. Thats UE. (To me, anyway.)

Everyone looks at UE differently and to me, thats the excitement of being a UER member. I like seeing everyones perspectives of urban exploring and how they capture the feel of the places they explore with their cameras.

I explored my great grandfather's abandoned cabin on lake of the woods. Just because I had the keys to the lock doesn't mean its not exploring.

Low blow to the sad solo chairs shots! Do I need to start a campaign to preserve this cliché what has become UrbEx photography?

And to touch on the original topic in question- it isn't urbex unless you are the first person to ever find the site in the past 40 years, and if you haven't been chased by at least 4 police officers, a couple dogs, and it's certainly not considered urbex if you didn't fall through three floors in the process of making your escape out the window into your waiting getaway car/snowmobile/kayak/blimp.

Urbex is what you make it. Don't let anyone else define it for you.

Get down, girl, go 'head, get down.

who maintains that UE is quite simply illegally tresspassing into abandoned mental asylums.
