That's a good point, but I'd still rather have someone "watching my back" you could say, so that if I do die, at least someone knows where my body is.  It's not like I'm expecting to be injured, but like I said, somewhere abandoned most likely isn't well maintained, and you never really know whether someplace like that is safe or not. It's not always as cut-and-dry as "don't go if it's not safe."

I been in tight spots and this philosophy has always served me well. You'll find that even when your injured, most times you can drag yourself out.
More often that's not the problem, invisibility is.
Human voices carry for very long distances as can patterns of movement through debris underfoot.
If you can hear someone, you can find them.
I play this game constantly at sites.
Whoever can become aware of another's presence first, always has the upper hand.
Most people have poor noise discipline, and when with others, most barely even try.
Between the noise and the huge visual footprint groups present, it's almost impossible not to notice them!
Not smart.
These people were totally unaware of my presence even though they came within 20 feet of me at times.
They weren't causing any harm, and I saw no point in revealing my presence, but I do like my trophies.
Power that be here require I blank out the faces, sorry.

On topic though, being the rookie forum I will assume that exploring is a fairly new hobby to you. If that is the case, I would advise strongly against going at it alone. After you get some experience under your belt, then go alone all you want. But until then it is a safety issue. Injury while exploring is way way way worse than getting arrested. That does not mean that you should go with large groups. For the most part 2-3(max) is a wise way of doing things.

That's what my point was, really. My main concern is not concealment, blackhawk, because I'd rather be alive and caught because of someone else than dead, alone and invisible. That's my personal take on it, and I don't think you're gonna change my mind on it anytime soon.

Numbers don't protect you from stupidity, only increases the chance that something will happen.
I've explored alone since I was five or six, woods/climbing trees at first, but I was inside old buildings at the age of 12.
You learn by doing, not hiding behind others.
I always bring back more images when I'm alone too.
Unless you require extra people to actually do something like rigging or equipment handling (Danskt is one member who can legitimately make that claim here.), they serve not purpose other than companionship.
UE is not necessarily a social function, tourism is

It was sorta of funny; they were wearing some camo, but it was just for show as it was mixed with smashing fashion.
Don't get me wrong; they were just UEing, and there was no great need from good camo, at least right there, but at that location in general it's better not to be seen.
Cops are more likely to cut slack to a single photographer, than a group that's more into looking around. That's mostly do to vandals though.
For the safety in numbers people:
Too many times when people are in groups they follow like a herd on the plains.
Spread out all over the place, not staying behind the tree lines and shadows, moving in a consistent, predictable manner to boot.
Easy to spot and follow.
Anytime any one sees you going into or at an abandonment, they can cause you trouble.
Sneaking about looks even more suspicious and is almost guaranteed to bring the cops.
A single person presents the smallest footprint and is the least threatening in appearance.
You have maximum mobility; this alone makes it worth it.
Two people is the next best alternative, but after three people you risk getting into the clusterfuck realm of exploring.

And if you have one you should bring a cell phone just in case. Never go into an abandonment in a really shady part of town because the police there will assume you are bad news and treat you as such, and who knows who you will meet inside.
