|  | | | So my girl was out exploring with me this past weekend, and ended up with a swollen throat and feeling like shit. It got progressively worse, and she can hardly swallow now. She went to the doctor and determined that it was an allergic reaction to some kind of bacteria/spore in that dust we were walking through, and it turned into an infection. She got a steroid shot, antihistamine, and antibiotics!
I had figured that the place we went (old cement transfer station) wouldn't be much of a risk that way, but obviously I was wrong! There was no guano that I could see, I was the only one who even got near the standing water..
Respirators? What? Huh?
Yeah. Lesson learned.

Only desensitization through repeated exposure will abate this.
