From what I have read they are pretty sure it was lightening. And according to Lev they took off the lightening rods a few years ago.
|
what could they possibly gain from taking lightning rods off of a building with a high probability of being struck by lightning? I tell ya, theyre holding there farts in or something, because there ideas are getting shittier every year
little known fact, if you shake the sprinkles at the bottom of a doughnut bag while exploring, youll actually be cought by cops faster |

Not all of them - but yeah, apparently, from info I have from sources closely connected to the building - when they did the roof stabilization a few years back, they took down some of the rods and never bothered to replace them. A fucking stupid oversight which killed an entire wing of a Kirk... sad how things work out.

| | | WHen their action to stabilize the structure resulted in total destruction, yep, that's classic irony.

| | | Posted by _liss_ Poughkeepsie Journal just reported that lightning is the only last possible cause. http://www.poughke...6/NEWS01/706060338 They will still probably be searching to find directly where it hit.

What surprises me is (as far as I am aware) no news-organizations investigated if the lightening rods were removed or put back in their positions when the roof was re-shingled with asphalt (YUCK!) shingles.

Most of the south wings had that weird lead plating covering the roofs. Now when you walk around close to the exterior of the building you can find hardened puddles of lead that melted off of the roof. The lead plating was old though.

Actually, on some recent photographs on some Urban Explorers websites, I saw that some of the roofs were re-shingled with asphalt shingles. I assure you I am NOT confusing the LEAD roof or a TAR-covered roof. As someone who has replaced asphalt shingles, I know the difference. Charles

As someone who spent a lot of time on those rooftops, there wasnt new asphalt shingles put up. The only place I recall seeing them is on the towers of each section, and they were put up years ago.
