| | NEWBIE QUEST! abandoned mansion < on 5/22/2007 1:23 AM >
| | | This abandoned house / mansion is across from a semi active park place area {glen echo park near the seven eleven and the hardware store in maryland}. its up a long winding driveway on a steep hill. it has woods on the left of it and houses covered by hills to the top and right of it. it has moderate cover. i have seen this place a lot but does anyone know anything about it or if security is tight its got a fence and boarded up windows but the fence was recently set up it also has pretty good cover from the trees in the area but it seems pretty tight security wise? anyone got any recomendations?
p.s. im only a early teenager maybe 14 15 or 16 and i dont want to go to juvie or get arrested please help me out thank you.

| | | Ways to tell if a place is secured vary from person to person. You need to trust your gut for the most part. Aside from the obvious things like security company signs, some things I note when scouting a place out to tell if it's still used are: Footprints: shoes or work boots? Real-estate sign: is it new or old? Fences: you said there was a new one put up. Boards: how old are the boards covering the windows? Smoke from the chimney: the place is still heated. Power meter is running: the place is using power (of course). Drive-way: does it have tracks? overgrown? If there's a gate through the fence, put something on it to indicate if people have opened the gate recently. Tie a small string to the top or bottom of the gate that's not easy to spot, but breaks when someone opens the gate. Security measures and techniques vary from person to person and place to place. Just do some good scouting, get a feel for the place, and trust your gut when you get a slight feeling it's time to leave there. Just my 2 cents

| | | Also, I did this once when I first registered too, but it's probably not such a hot idea to tell everyone on the intarweb exactly where this location is. All kinds of people use the 'net, including vandals and such. That's my 2 cents. As for figuring out whether it's abandoned, you could try the gum trick. I've never used it, but it seems like it would work alright. Try putting some gum over the seal of the main door (don't jam it in there or make it stick all over, yuck), then come back awhile later and see if the gum has been broken, hence the door opened. Of course, this won't tell you for sure, as they might have just not used it during that time frame. But at least it will give you an idea whether it's likely/unlikely if someone will be using it while you're there. I'm currently waiting to check back on a variation of this trick.
"See you guys, you never listen to me. I said there was gonna be trouble but you didn't listen to me. You guys are crazy. You know, you guys are self destructive. There's a funny farm and it has your names written all over it. But I'm gettin' out of here. I'm... I smell ice cream!" |

| | | You're fourteen, maybe fifteen, but most likely fourteen. If you were sixteen, you'd never say that you might be fourteen. Being 14 does have it's advantages.... If caught, you'll just get shooed away because boys will be boys, right? If you're older, people instantly assume that you are up to no good, and must be brought to justice. Oh, bring a friend. If someone tries to chase you, you have a 50/50 chance of escaping

| | | Pluck a hair from your head (extra points if you pluck a hair from your friend's head - and she's a virgin). Then lick it. Then stick it in the middle of the door. If you come back and the hair is not there, you are safe to enter. If it is still there, look to your left. You will see a tree with a hole in it. Walk to the tree and look into the hole, but under no circumstances should you place your hand or any other body part into the hole, for this is a dangerous hole. Don't be disappointed if you do not see anything in the hole - every hole has it's goal.

| | | Ok, the term to describe the slow friend is "Cop Bait" they are usually a little fat and slow. but make sure you have one who wont rat you out if you run.
Note: just for the record, I dont run from cops they are usually easy to deal with down here. They might detain you long enough to run your ID. I always carry my camera gear so my story is always plausible. just my 0.02 cents JC [last edit 5/24/2007 12:24 PM by JC - edited 1 times]
